OMG! MoveOn sent out a pro-Kerry email
Just found this in my mailbox:

Dear MoveOn member,

After Congress stripped controversial Arctic oil drilling provisions from the budget, pro-drilling advocate Senator Stevens just couldn't accept defeat. Now, he is trying to pass it by attaching it to defense funding. A vote is likely in the next 48 hours.

This is a dirty, last-ditch effort by some Republicans to sneak Arctic drilling through Congress. They are even willing to hold up funding for our troops to do it.

Sen. Kerry is leading a major fight to stop the defense bill as long as it includes unrelated drilling provisions. Can you write a short letter to the editor of your local paper supporting Sen. Kerry? Our tool makes it easy.

If you write a short note today, it could be published tomorrow. When the Senate goes to vote, we need senators who fight on the right side to know we have their backs. In addition to Sen. Kerry seeing the published letters in the paper, we'll send him a copy so he will see your letter no matter what.

It's particularly underhanded to put something like Arctic drilling in the defense bill that funds our troops. Even top military leaders are angered by this move. A group of top generals, including former Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni, sent a letter to Senat Republican Leader Bill Frist criticizing these backdoor tactics.1

Drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge would ruin millions of acres of pristine land and threaten polar bears and other wildlife. It won't solve our energy crisis, or save us money at the pump, but it will be another Republican giveaway of our natural resources to big oil companies that are already racking up record profits.

When our leaders in Congress stand up and fight for what's important we have to get their backs. Can you write a quick letter today?

Thanks for all you do,

...same subject, only in support of Senator Feinstein (Kerry not mentioned). I sent about 6 LTTE's to local Californina newspapers this morning.:patriot:

6. It actually makes sense as the each is using the proponent
from the recipient's state. It might work better for the LTTE. (Though I think we'ld all prefer to write Kerry in the letter.

7. Okay. Now I'm positive. Things are going to get better.
If MoveOn is backing Kerry, there's real hope. Yee-haw.

Internet Creates Local Political Movements By RON FOURNIER, AP Political Writer

snip...

A lonely and frustrated liberal, the stay-at-home mother of two joined the liberal online group MoveOn.org in 2004. Working from home, the Pittsburgh woman helped round up votes for presidential candidate John Kerry and other Democrats. On Election Day, Kerry prevailed in Pennsylvania, but failed to unseat President Bush.

"I was upset with Kerry's loss, but what really devastated me was the loss of that sense of empowerment in my life, this sense of engagement, that I got with MoveOn," she said.

Shull, 31, was brimming with ideas for liberal causes, but MoveOn had virtually shut down after the election and the Democratic Party was catatonic. So she took matters in her own hands, e-mailing the 1,500 contacts she had made through MoveOn and asking if they wanted to keep busy.

Their first meeting drew 85 people. They got involved in local races, and Shull tended to her e-mail list — each name coded with the person's pet issue.

"This wasn't about a huge agenda. This was people gathering together and working with each other on things that interested them," she said. "It was just a way for people to connect with each other."
