Kerry interview on AAR's Politically Direct
Edited on Wed Dec-21-05 09:46 AM by whometense
Sunday (Christmas) from 2-3.

Mark Riley played a long clip during his show this morning (and spoke well of JK) and promised to play more in the next few days.

Edited to add that Riley made a comment about how impressed he is about the way Kerry bounced back after the election. :-)

2. Thanks. I'll get a tape
ANd how are you feeling? I think I am on the healing end of the Boston bug (or I was until the unfortunate Red Sawx news.) How's by you my dear?

5. Slightly better, thanks.
I think I may live.

Seriously, BAD cold - the cough has been just killing me. But I'm back at work today with my menthol lozenges, so that's a step in the right direction. How are you?

6. Not bad, all things considered
a lot better after my husband gets my daughter out of New York City. Sigh! I think I'm having a bad week. Makes up for my unbelievably great last week. All things balance out in the end.

7. I know what you mean.
Not the best time to be moving in NYC. My son is flying up here tomorrow morning, but I'll believe it whan I see him. It must be tough to get a cab these days - I hope he's planning ahead...

13. glad to see you're up and around again
With you and everybody sick, I was beginning to wonder what was to become of our forum!

My daughter flew in from Minneapolis yesterday, so we're ready for the holidays. Hope all goes well with your son. The only traffic problems my daughter has is moving her car when they need to plow the streets; she got her car impounded last week--$160! If it's not one thing, it's another!

14. Thanks. It's been a not-so-much-fun few days.
He actually just called me, in a semi-panic. You can't order a taxi, and they're apparently not allowing cars to drive in the city with fewer than 4 people on board. If he's lucky he can jump on a group cab to the airport - but if not he may have to walk to the Port Authority and take the bus.

He always waits till the last minute, so I expected him to be a little freaked out, but the strike is really tough for New Yorkers to deal with.

Hope you're able to shake it for the holidays. Rest works wonders.

3. Excellent.
Damn I'll miss it though. I'll be hanging out with the fundamentalist wing of the MH family that day. Sigh. (Funny thing is, any other weekend I might actually get them to listen, and they wouldn't even hate everything they heard, and might open their eyes a bit. Not on Christmas though. Politics of any sort will be totally off limits. Sigh. Somehow I'll make it through, I guess.)

I really appreciate the added comment about being impressed by Kerry's bounceback. If I had to pick the biggest thing that made me stick by Kerry and defend him after the election, that would be it. I think he's set an inspiring example of how to handle an incredibly difficult situation.

My hero. :patriot:

4. I'm sure there will be a podcast.
You can get any AAR show over at the archive site Air America Place: http://www.airamericaplace.com/archive.php

And I agree. Whenever I feel down I think of how he's handled himself this past year, and I get inspired all over again. It's great to see him starting to get some more recognition for all the good work he's done throughout a tough, tough year.

8. Wow, that's cool.
I haven't listened to Mark since AAR left Sirius. I'll have to catch more of him over the next few days.
Thanks.

9. Am I not to be allowed ANY pettiness??
LOL! I used to hate Big Eddie and then he was good to my Senator, so I had to start listening to him. Same with Imus.

I've been resisting the Riley Show because I'm still in mourning for Morning Sedition, but if HE'S going to say nice things about JK, well, that's it. I'll just have to have an open mind -- oh, the pain! :-)

Thanks for the heads up! And glad you're starting to feel a bit better.

11. hahahaha
Yeah, me too.

By the way, did you sign up for Maron's mailing list? I did months and months ago, and nothing - but today I got a Christmas email from him! It made me so happy/sad.

Season Greetings Geniuses, Philosopher Kings and Queens, Working Class Heroes, Progressive Utopians with no sense of humor and of course you lurking Conservatives,

The dream is over. What can I say?

I'm back in LA with two of my three feral cats trying to integrate with the two cats I have here. It's live Animal Planet every day in my house. I assume that they'll eventually get the hang of each or kill each other off. I will try to step in if it looks like nature is taking the latter course.

Thank you all for all your support over the last 22 months or a part of that (if you have no idea what I'm talking about because you never knew I hosted "Morning Sedition" on Air America Radio, then hold out because there will be info for you as well).

Here's what happening in the next month or so:

• I'm going to get to know my wife
• I'm going to buy a car. (I promise I will do the right thing here)
• I'm going to update my web site. (Give me a break. I've been doing morning radio for the last year and half. I have had time for nothing.)
• If all goes as planned I will have a new show on in the evenings here in LA on KTLK 1150 with Jim Earl and Brendan McDonald by the end of the month. The show will include the work of Kent Jones, Mike Ferucci and Bruce Cherry. There will be new contributors from the talent pool out here and as you know that is an Olympic size pool. We will be providing some separate content for Air America Mornings in NYC and for the web site. We will also be air some time on the weekends in New York.
• I promise to podcast.
• I will be updating you as to the progress on the new show as will as live shows wherever they may be as well as TV appearances,
• My new CD comes out soon. I'll let you know about that.
• When the site is re-built I'll put some kind of blog up there. That will make it easier.

IF ANYONE HAS AN IDEA FOR A SHOW TITLE, SEND IT TO MARC@MARCMARON.COM

This has been a horrendous few months for me. I am emotionally drained and furious about what went down at Air America. Hopefully, I'll be back on the airwaves soon. Again, thanks to all of you. There was no way the show would have been as great as it was if I didn’t know you all were out there digging it.

Maron

P.S. If all this is meaningless to you and you never listened to the show I’ll turn you on to the new show and we'll move ahead from there.

I'm nearly in tears here.... I signed up months ago, too, but haven't gotten this. I think I'll go sign up again, just in case. Marc is so amazing, so sincere in addition to all the narcissism and neurosis. Thank goodness he says he'll podcast the new show!!!!

Thank you so much for posting that!!!!

It is a great interview. Very pissed-off Kerry. And very articulate, too. It was positively heartwarming to hear him being so respected by Riley and by the interviewer, David Bender.

Edited to add, if you want to get the podcast, it was in the last 15 minutes of the show - a little after 8:45.
