Gawd I want to talk about Iraq.
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 10:33 PM by TayTay
I find it hard to believe that I was talking about the need for Sen. Kerry to talk about Iraq, oh about 2 1/2 months ago and now haven't even caught up with all his recent comments. That speech in front of the Council on Foreign Relations was absolutely wonderful. I am still reading it and making mental notes. I want to go through it again and then discuss it in detail. Damn, that was a brilliant book-end to the speech he made at Georgetown in late Oct. The Oct speech talked about the military and political options we have in Iraq and this speech just painted in the background of everything we should be mindful of in the Middle East and Iraq in particular. (I loved this speech. Hands down, this was one of the best I have read from anyone on Iraq. Just amazing stuff here.)

I haven't had time yet to make any reasonable comments on this. It's just the end of the year crunch. (I was busy with something at the beginning of Dec and then busy getting Christmas and such done at the end of the month. Just tonight, there was a party for 15 teenagers at my house and I had my 15 year old nephew overnight for awhile and so forth. It has been extremely busy. So sorry.)

I would love, love, love to discuss this speech and the recent phone-ins on Ed Schultz and Bill Press and, most especially, the AAR show. This is all great stuff and is just wonderful and informed commentary both on Iraq and on other issues. Maybe this is what I can catch up on in the next two weeks. (Then Sen. Kerry is going back to Iraq, right? I heard he is going to be there in early Jan. I wonder if he will be there when the Senate Judiciary committee hearings are underway for Judge Alito. Seems like a good time to go, IMHO.) I wonder what other insights JK will bring back from that trip. (Honestly, his comments on the background in Iraq at the CFR speech were just great. If any other Dem had given that speech, DU would still be riffing off of it. Wow!)

Anyway, this is just a way to say that even though I have been busy and not able to write much here, I definitely want to discuss this. There has been an enormous amount of things to go through and I want to 'catch up.' (Gawd, I hope Mass can forgive me. Mass was asking for help in 'compare and contrast' the various Dem Iraq plans and I have been trying to catch up enough to do some of that, but am not there yet. Sigh! I need to be cloned myself right now.)

1. I didn't know Kerry was going to go back to Iraq in Jan.
Interesting that he is going back so soon.
Would like to have him around for the Alito hearings tho.

I have alot of catching up to do as well. A cloned Pirhana would have been a nice gift this month!
Kerry is so detailed that many times I have to re-read, or re-watch what he has said...dunno if it's just because I may get a little distracted watching him :p and listening to that deep voice, or if he requires one to concentrate on the depth of his thoughts. He opens up my mind to understand his way of thinking. I actually have to ponder over his words at times to digest what he has said, and he always amazes me with how much sense he makes, how he seems to have an innate ability to get to the root of a problem.

When I heard his Georgetown speech in Iraq, I was amazed. He just makes sense. I have it recorded on my dvr, and one of the things I want to do is to watch it again.

Getting most of my news over the last few weeks from the msm, listening to the ** agenda, I really believe someone in that admin watched his speech too. And they also did some pondering.

As I have posted in the past, I don't care if they borrow from Kerry, or Murtha. The bottom line is what is best for the troops, what is going to get them home safely. If the idiots don't have an exit strategy, then I honestly hope they listen to Sen Kerry's.

3. Love the way you put that, Piranha!

Yes, I often feel that way -- that his point of view "opens up my mind" and helps me to see things differently, more deeply.

I also agree with you, Tay Tay, about the incredible richness and insight of the CFR speech. As I've said before, I think listening to it is even more amazing -- his delivery on this one ranks it with some of his best speeches ever, in my opinion.

I, too, would love to discuss the Georgetown and CFR speeches when there is more time.

2. I know how you feel. It is so busy this time of year. I still have
company staying and a couple more coming for New Years. I am looking forward to the lull also. I have got a lot of listening and reading to do.
