Looks like fun next weekend
Wonder what the bet is between the Kerry's and the Heinz's for next weeks AFC Championship game.

New England Patriots vs. Pittsburgh Steelers.

Truly, I wonder if there are any friendly rivalries in that one.

Go Pats!
(I'm allowed. It's just for one week.)

1. You know the funny thing is
I'll be rooting against the same people, I rooted for the red sox with in the fall. Go Steelers! What I am trying to say, in baseball I like the sox, I am an Orioles fan in the reg season though, and I hate the Yankees so I enjoyed the choking, but I want the Steelers to win this one because duh tehy're my team but hey if the pats were playing the jets, I'd go for em likely.

3. Nooooooooo!
Geez, Vinessa, I have already conceeded that part of the reason I am so gleeful over the Red Sox win is that it might take the chip OFF of our shoulders. We can have a real rivalry. This is going to be fun. I might be able to have a conversation that doesn't have a background subtext "we suck, you always win." I hate this, but it was there. Maybe now it won't be. This is a good thing.

(TayTay is conceeding that some Yankees fans are wonderful people. Not all of them, of course, I haven't had a lobotomy for breakfast after all. But some Yankee fans are great! I never would have said that before because of the raging inferiority complex.)

7. and I will be the first to admit that some Yank fans
suck eggs. I must say, this group is the fuzziest I've ever been with Sox fans. I like our crossing of base lines. You all ROCK!! and I will be the first to congratulate you if the Sox do it again. (Well, after I get hysterical, eat a couple of pounds of chocolate and cry until my eyes are puffy).

4. I stand by my point vinessa
I enjoyed watching the Yankees choke, after you guys stole the 1996 ACLS from my young heart, I deserve something that resembles redemption.

6. I'm gonna get mushy for a sec
Funny that you brought up '96. I've mentioned before that I was born into a Yankee fan family and that's true. I come by it honestly, although have developed my own liking for them, it's not a duty. My Dad and I didn't get to spend a lot of quality time together. I used to work in retail management in those days, and had very little down time. I was stressed out and jaded, and not taking a lot of time to smell roses. I didn't know I wouldn't have a lot of quality time left with him, but one of the last things we did together besides a quick visit here and there, was watch the ticker tape parade on t.v. I've seen my Dad cry 3 times in my life. When his Mom died, when he danced with me at my wedding, and during that parade. Sorry to mush out, but that was a special year to me for that reason.

Sorry about that little walk down memory lane. I tend to post in stream of consciousness sometimes. I'm done being mushy. The '98 Yanks--"can't touch this." uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh.

8. Atta girl, you feisty thing you
In your face, sweetie. This is gonna be a great year. Can't wait until opening day in Boston when the World Champion Boston Red Sox get their World Championship rings during a ceremony in front of the visiting New York Yankees. I would be a frickin liar if I said that moment isn't gonna be sweeter because of who is in the visiting clubhouse. (I am not above petty gloating, I am no saint.)

That said, bring on the rivalry. It should be a fun year! You guys bulked up in the off season and we should be very competitive. There is fun to be had here.

11. ya know, TayTay
I'm going to have to relearn my team. I missed most of the end of season and post season because of school. I shall endeavor to be a more effective time manager so I can do my homework on the team revamping as well.

I vow to be up on my trash talk and ready for the season.

10. At least youre not like some people who go for them only cuz they're good
Yeah '96, Jeffrey Meier, I hated how the New York media treated that kid like a fuckin hero. Hey, I hate the Yanks, its how I was brought up, I bet if I were brought up in New York, I'd like them.

12. OMG, I forgot there were other teams in the AL East
Sorry, Kleeb, couldn't resist. (Snobby NY/Boston fans must kill the rest of the league. It's all about us, just us all the time.) I am very fond of the Birds. They have a proud history and a wonderful ballpark that is the model for all the new ones that came after it. They have some great players, but I think they are still a few pitchers away from competitiveness with the top two teams. (I could be wrong, that would be fun!) O's fans rule too!

14. O's are ok
Our farm club was Baltimore's (Red Wings), but now we belong to Minnesota. I have to confess I only really liked going to Wings games when they were against the Clippers.

21. yep,
you guys could have had a stellar team if ANY money at all had been spent. On the other hand, King George of the Bronx spends far too much and messes with good things because he likes to use his players like chess pieces in a high stakes gambling session. Never should have gotten rid of Lily. Never should have let Petit go. Should never have acquired Clemens or let go of Wells. My heart broke when Wells got traded.

18. Geez Kleeb
Spring training hasn't even started yet. Don't give up at least until May. You guys beat the crap out the Sox more than a few times last year and we wound up winning it all. It ain't over til at least it's begun.

19. When the best players you got in free agency
are Steve "Who?" Kline and James "No, I am not the author" Baldwin, youre screwed but then again, the Steelers didn't have any major upgrades, well they got Staley and drafted Roethlisberger but they're not where people expected them to be. I know, I am just cynical, I think the orioles iwll only be competive if Angelos leaves, god I hate that son of a bitch.
