Local schoolboy Marc McCorkell got the thrill of a lifetime when he had a personal meeting with prominent US Senator John Kerry at the University of Ulster’s Magee campus.

Marc described the wide-ranging lecture as very informative. “Senator Kerry spoke very passionately about the issues, which I thought was very good,” he added.

After the lecture Marc met Senator Kerry - a senior member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee – and they chatted about a visit the schoolboy made to the US last year. “We just talked in general and he asked me about my experiences of life in America. He was a very down-to-earth person and very good with people”.

PASSIONATELY on the issues. Apparently he wasn't brainwashed by our MSM when he was over here. Apparently he didn't think Sen. Kerry was cold, aloof and cardboard.

The Irish are a WICKED smart people. :)

The audio did sound very passionate. I really like the tone of voice he used on it - very warm, calm and passionately concerned with communicating. It was different than his "pissed off" Kerry voice or his campaign voice.

He really would be an utterly fantastic President.

8. I think the Irish people in general are very knowledgeable

about American politics. In many ways, probably more so than a lot of Americans (imagine that). When I was visiting Northern Ireland in '89 I met a young man (I think he was around 20 or 21) who was PASSIONATE about the American Democratic Party. One of his goals was to come to America and help Democratic candidates get elected (this was before the first Gulf War, during the rein of Poppy Bush). At that time (not sure if it's the same now) the Catholics in Northern Ireland were very pro-American, while the Protestants were not. (I guess they were ahead of the curve on that one. :( )

I'm glad JK got an opportunity to meet some locals during his visit - this is a great story!

12. I think, as FreedomAngel says, the Irish would like Kerry een more.

They share the same outlook on life and sense of humor. (He is 'Irish by Association,' as my Mom says about her own self. Seriously, it's true.)
