1. You need to ask this in a country where ANYONE voted for Shrub?
This stupid HAS to be a genetic condition, probably a mutation from all the MTBE and heavy metals in our water.

2. My son on "the fence"
My youngest, fairly non-political son: "Holy christ if they're gonna build a fence I want to be on the other side of it! Don't lock me in this country with these nutty people." He works at a box store, people drive him bat shit on a daily basis.

3. I don't blame him
There's too much ignorance and as WEL puts it, its not just on one side, people are upset that Sherrod Brown despite being more liberal is the Ohio senate candidate because he wasn't the grassroots candidate, you know what I think of that, I think thats pretty damned stupid if you consider that there are going to be grassroots people supporting candidates everywhere. Rememeber the 2004 Primary in Iowa, I remember Kerry and his supporters being accused of "crushing the grassroots", I wasn't a Kerry supporter then but I found that just so insulting since I found it to be bs. Also just because someone comes from the "Grassroots" does not mean they are not going to be any better than anyone else in Congress. Many congresspeople right now in both parties were elected on running on the outsider campaign, take the majority leader, Boehmer for example, he was part of the famous gang of seven that railed against corruption and he was the GOP nominee in 1990 because he ran an outsider campaign, and now he's buddies with Abramoff and is one of the most crooked politicans in congress. Its nice to think that Grassroots candidates will be pure and stuff but its not accurate. Sorry for ranting like this, I am just sick and tired of the idiocy and the arrogance I see on both sides of the political debate in our country.

4. Lemme rephrase this
Edited on Thu Mar-30-06 02:08 AM by JohnKleeb
I've felt for sometime now that ignorance is the biggest problem in the country if not the world, we all have biases no matter what we try to say, the problem though is that there are too many people who think they have the answer to everything and that everyone else's answer is wrong. I guess what I am trying to say that one should put process over ideology, take mininum wage for instance, I'd love to see it be 9 bucks an hour but if we could increase it to 7.15, I'd be happy, there are many people who would rather lose than get anything accomplished. I understand idealism but if there's anything that this has all taught me is that you have to understand that not everyone will feel the same as you. I think what's frustrating you is the same stuff that frustrates me is that many DUers think they understand politics and the political process, and I claim to be no expert but I think people especially peopel from bright blue areas don't get that we can't elect a Ted Kennedy to every seat in Congress, and to be honest I wouldn't like it if that was our congress, conformity is awful and its our diversity as it shows up in what people think about issues that makes this country great.

5. It inspired three hysterical outbursts by one of our favorite people
It's really mindboggling how tripped up these people get in their ever changing web of distortions, excuses, and double standards.

6. You are talking about me in here again.
If I get talked about and made fun of in this forum, I will respond. Fair is fair.

Calling me dishonest is wrong.

8. Then don't be dishonest
If you have a problem, discuss it in the original thread. Your disruptions are not welcome here and you are stalking me from thread to thread. I don't think I've ever seen anything more pathetic in my life.

9. you compared what she said to Al From
she specifically described those who threaten to leave the party after every vote, and those who voted Nader and other third party as NOT being part of the base.

then you attack her by comparing her to Al From. and then go on about people who do this or that. none of which she brought up as examples of those who are NOT part of the base.

do you take issue with her saying those who vote third party are NOT part of the base ?
