Hey Virginians here
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 04:25 PM by JohnKleeb
Do you guys know who your state senator and or delegate is endorsing in the senate race?
Janet Howell who is quoted below is my state senator.
"Harris has worked hard to support me and other Democrats across Virginia for the past fifteen years. I know that he will be a strong voice for women in the U.S. Senate," said Sen. Howell.

By the way I saw a video on Harris Miller's website and I like the guy, I sincerely think he will be a great candidate. He wants to bring what has worked in our state with Governors Warner and Kaine to Washington. Miller seems like a good guy, I probably won't agree with him on everything if elected but thats part of life.

Oops forgot to add Miller's website

1. Thanks Kleeb
I could not find this before. I just ordered a bumper sticker.

I love the first article on his site.

Miller Calls for George Allen to Resign
The Daily Press reports on Harris's call for George Allen to step down after the New York Times reports that Allen is "bored" with the Senate. Also, read the campaign press release in the News section.

2. Did you see him say why he's running?
I thought it was great. He wants to bring what has worked here in Virginia to the senate and provide opportunites to those like who were like him growing up in Western Pennsylvania so they can be successful tooo.

3. Thanks for the info, JohnKleeb!
I signed up for the e-mail, but when I tried to get a bumper sticker there was an error. Strange, since Fedup just got one. I think I speak for FedupinBushCountry that ALL of our state senators and assemblymen are Republicans, so endorsements aren't an issue here. If this primary is anything like last year's (EXTREMELY low turnout), then everything will hinge on GOTV organization. If Harris Miller can just get the unions to side with him, then he'll win, which was how Leslie Byrne did last year. Unfortunately, I saw that Byrne seems to be for Webb. But how would Webb get the unions, if he's really a Republican? All inside stuff that I have no idea about. Anyway, very good website.

4. I havent heard much talk about economics from either
Right Bryne is siding with Webb, I think she was my Congresswoman for that one term before Davis beat her, now I am in Wolf's district. Sorry about you guys having state senators and assemblymen that are GOP. I have a republican assemblyman but I voted for him because he's my former mayor and a good one, a meverick, and a dedcent guy who Ive met. I think you're probably right about the unions. I want to know who our AG candidate from last year, Creigh Deeds is endorsing honestly, I don't know him personally but a cousin of his is married to one of mine, I remember discussing that with him at a family party and my cousin's husband was real eager to get out the vote for the Democratic ticket. Of course even if Deeds wasnt related to him, we'd be voting for him anyway, my family is as democratic as it gets exempting my aunt's ex. Webb it seems started out as a democrat, then went to the GOP, and now is a dem again. I dont see him getting the unions eitehr. If I were still working for Giant Food and in the UFCW local that I was in then I'd try to get a mindset for what they think. Miller comes from a strongly unionized place, Western Pennsylvania which is where my family is from and thats part of the reason why I like him, silly I know but all of them people Ive met personally from there have had strong character.

5. Aaaarrrgghhhh!!!
http://gotv.blogspot.com/2006/03/miller-and-webb-at-fcdc.html

Read the part where it says "Webb also reminded the audience of his support for John Kerry." and follow the link. It goes to the infamous hit piece in USA Today, and the context didn't seem sarcastic! I assume it was the blogger who did that, but if Webb is going around saying he "supported" Kerry....

:wtf:

6. I dont know but back to economics
Miller seems to be more to Webb's left economically if he's going to bring up what Reagan did with the air traffic controllers and his union busting. I used to work as an intern with the Dulles Airport Air Traffic Control Tower and worked with many of the controllers, tehy're hard workers, they were treated like shit by Reagan. Webb supported Kerry, what a bunch of bull, Webb's behavior in regards to Kerry is really shitty.

9. Heh, sorry to derail
and I'm not from VA anyway.

The reason I found that site is that I had a problem finding Miller's site via google yesterday. I don't know if his people are messing up or if someone's sabotaged him. Google "Harris Miller Senate 2006 VA" and click on the first link. It just cycles and won't load (in FF anyway).

Goggle "Harris Miller Senate" and his site doesn't come near the top. He needs to work on that. (IMO)

10. s'all good
Yeah it is hard. I am gonna vote for Webb if he's the nominee but I think Miller would make a better senator honestly, my vote isn't going to be a vote against Webb but rather a vote for Miller, I am going to see if I can make any events that he goes too but all the events listed on the site or in the part of the state I am far from.

11. Turns out the blog I linked to WAS being sarcastic
I had posted a comment and the author replied. I am glad I posted because I think some other commenters also didn't realize she was being sarcastic - it was a bit too subtle.

You may find that blog to be a good place for info on Harris - might want to check it out.

7. I guess he supported him remaining a MA Senator
Edited on Fri Mar-31-06 06:25 PM by karynnj
I can't believe he would have the chutzpah to say that he supported Kerry. MH, your comment was great. Even though there were little snarky comments towards Miller, he came off better than Webb. Webb sounded like he had no economic positions or is looking for them.
