i just cannot find confirmation all kerry sf180 signed and released
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 12:10 PM by seabeyond
i have googled most all morning. this is pissing me off. there is not an argument to be made for kerry. i need something valid. i get he signed it.... then gave it to globe and globe let people look at it. they said there wasnt much new. navy said all released then a handful of months later navy saying two hundred document not released. i cannot find any clear, non bias article on kerry military.

anyone have the fact?

why should this be such a struggle to prove if kerry released his documents.
what was the reason for kerry to make this so difficult

i am a huge kerry fan. i want him to run 08. many know me. not here to diss kerry

4. Kerry wasn't in Vietnam as a reservist! What does that have to
do with his combat service and medals? The Liars are questioning his service. Seems they are more interested in his anti-war activities! Why? That has nothing to do with the record of his time in Vietnam.

5. i understand. but.... there is something from jag in his record
that is a thought of why he doesnt want it all released. then to have this talking about how it stops the release of reserve has them shifting argument from his service, to this point. and so i give another piece of fact,..... only to have me doing more research in another area.

and it is very hard to argue with the right about kerry records when he only releases them to friendly globbe bews. dontcha think. i show that he signed and globe has it and they say, show me the records.

well i cant

but you can with clark, gore, and others.

7. There is no way to discuss that with the right. Whatever Kerry would have
done, they would have invented something else (including that the records were falsified if it comes to that).

Time to drop the issue. Kerry released his papers. The Navy and the media said nothing was wrong. End of story. Nothing to discuss.

12. Those FBI files on Kerry WERE released. Nixon couldn't find anything
to use against Kerry. FBI agents who were trailing Kerry wrote down that it was Kerry who worked to keep the other members confined to issues and peaceful acts of protest and condemned any suggestions of violent acts.

17. Its bullshit
When you get out of the service you automatically are transferred to reserve duty. You don't just get discharged you have an amount of time that you are in the inactive reserves, and you can be called back in during that time period.
My husband was in the military he has a document that says on the day he retired that he was automatically transferred to the reserve for 10 years. On that document it says:

" This certificate is awarded as a testimonial of faithful and honorable service."

My husband to this day has not received documentation that his reserve service was over. His inactive reserve duty was over 6 years ago.

Don't let these swifties fool you, they know that it is a tricky policy .

i think i will hang on du for a while, but about tired of dem attacking dem too. thanks for you information. i will keep it in mind. this is what i was reading about resigning or whatever it is called

"during errands and thinking about this, actually i think i respect kerry more. he released his records

people attacked... no you didnt
yes i did
no you didnt
i did
you didnt sign a sf180
he signs it.

the records are the same as what he had released, and told that he had released, confirming that he was honest in the first place, releasing without a sf180.
further the release only glorified the man more"

13. Quote from the Boston Globe article referenced in previous link
By signing Form 180 now, Kerry may hope to achieve several goals: settle the question of whether there is an explosive document in the file; put pressure on critics to release their military records; and try to put to rest an issue that dogged his 2004 campaign and would probably come up again if he seeks the presidency in 2008.

The file does not provide new documents about various combat actions. It contains mostly a repetition of Kerry's citations for the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts. For example, it does not include the combat ''after action reports" that detail what happened in some of the firefights in which Kerry participated. Those reports are available for public inspection at the Navy historical center in Washington and have already been widely disseminated.

John O'Neill, the leader of the Swift Boat veterans group and coauthor of the book ''Unfit for Command," said yesterday that he would be disappointed if Kerry's files do not contain new information. ''I would still have the same beliefs expressed in my book," he said.

So O'Neill won't change his mind no matter WHAT was in it. Those right wingers are a bunch of disingenuous liars -- they say Kerry didn't sign the 180, when he actually DID. And if they think the Boston Globe is so "friendly" to Kerry, then why did half their agenda come FROM previous hit pieces from the Boston Globe? Seabeyond -- this is utter bullshit. ALL OF IT!!!!!!

16. Was this on a Lefty site or a Right vs. Left site?
When I researched this, I was just totally struck by how "Sign the 180, John Kerry" meme was on EVERY SINGLE RW blog. They don't even CARE what the facts are!!!! He signed it. And the BG is not a rag like the Boston Herald -- if there was something juicy in there, you can be damned sure their want of a scoop would trump any imagined "loyalty" to JK, for which it's obvious, apart from endorsing Democrats, they so totally do not possess.

that is what i pulled out. kerry said he released. everyone harped no you didnt you didnt sign a 180. he signs one, papers come.... they say he is "finally" realeasing, they are the same if not more glorifying than the ones he had already released. so when he said he released really it is a pat on his back, he didnt need a 180 to release his files. and he HAD released when he said. that is the truly ironic

21. What we are seeing in the RW media and forums
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 07:31 PM by karynnj
shows that even if Kerry took the risk of signing the 180 in 2004 - and would you trust the Republican Secretary of the Navy not to insert some little mischiveous piece of trouble that would create havoc? Would the angelic Republicans have done that? - it would have answered nothing.

The RW would claim there was more that should have been there or point out little errors in the Navy record (like the typing error of the list of his medals (I think on the discharge form) that had a V next to the silver and broze stars. The RW is still insisting this was evidence that Kerry falsified something - ignoring that a typist obviously repeated the "V" from the Bronze star next to the Silver. But they NEVER make little typos in their posts.)

Long term I dodn't think you will have trouble finding all the information you speak of, looking at the stuff Kerry showed the NYT - I'm sure it will all be meticulously put together.

24. Multiple articles
Swiftie articles going back to the beginnng:

http://kerrylibrary.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=7

I don't have time to check, but I should have articles including his signing of the 180. (If not, I'll definately have to add some).

Of course it won't change anything. The right wing bloggers claim that Kerry put restrictions on the form and therefore they continue their attacks. It doesn't matter that the facts all back Kerry.

If discussing this with Republicans, you might ask when Bush will sign his? What ever happened to those National Guard records?

25. LA Times, 8/24/04: These Charges are False
The Los Angeles Times published an editorial about the SB Liars back in August of 2004. It is still relevent. The headline minces no words:

http://www.truthout.org/docs_04/082504Z.shtml

These Charges are False...
Los Angeles Times | Editorial

Tuesday 25 August 2004

It's one thing for the presidential campaign to get nasty but quite another for it to engage in fabrication.
The technique President Bush is using against John F. Kerry was perfected by his father against Michael Dukakis in 1988, though its roots go back at least to Sen. Joseph McCarthy. It is: Bring a charge, however bogus. Make the charge simple: Dukakis "vetoed the Pledge of Allegiance"; Bill Clinton "raised taxes 128 times"; "there are Communists in the State Department." But make sure the supporting details are complicated and blurry enough to prevent easy refutation.

Then sit back and let the media do your work for you. Journalists have to report the charges, usually feel obliged to report the rebuttal, and often even attempt an analysis or assessment. But the canons of the profession prevent most journalists from saying outright: These charges are false. As a result, the voters are left with a general sense that there is some controversy over Dukakis' patriotism or Kerry's service in Vietnam. And they have been distracted from thinking about real issues (like the war going on now) by these laboratory concoctions.

It must be infuriating to the victims of this process to be given conflicting advice about how to deal with it from the same campaign press corps that keeps it going. The press has been telling Kerry: (a) Don't let charges sit around unanswered; and (b) stick to your issues: Don't let the other guy choose the turf.

At the moment, Kerry is being punished by the media for taking advice (b) and failing to take advice (a). There was plenty of talk on TV about what Kerry's failure to strike back said about whether he had the backbone for the job of president — and even when he did strike back, he was accused of not doing it soon enough. But what does Bush's acquiescence in the use of this issue say about whether he has the simple decency for the job of president?

************

Seabeyond: The friggin RW lunatics make shit up. They have a paranoid delusion going about John Kerry. The very act of questioning them involves you in their lunatic conspiracy and you become part of the plot to destroy America and deify Kerry. These people cannot be argued with because they are vengeful bastards who want to destroy John Kerry. (They don't give a shit about the truth, truth is irrelevent. They want a viscious discussion because that is the goal. The more you talk, the more they think they are smearing Kerry. The smear is the steak, it is the goal, it is what they are funded to do. Truth is not important. Wasting the time of Democrats and preventing them from moving the discussion to other things is the goal. This is the RW smear machine in full operational mode. These bastards have no other purpose in life.)

These friggin charges are false. Period. End of discussion. Right Wing lunatics can go whack off to a copy of their Book of Lies and a picture of John O'Neill. They are not going to get a lot of my time down in the mud. Every single friggin discussion with these slime-dwelling freaks begins with 'These Charges are False.' The douche-bags know the charges are false. They want to consume your time with dingy little arguments about chickenshit stuff. Every friggin argument begins and ends with 'These Charges are False.' Cuz they friggin are.

Exactly! The Swift Liars are liars, they make shit up! Period. The reason they go into such extensive BS detail is that they want people to waste time trying to counter nonsense. They are lies---from the first word to the last.

27. The BS Liars' goal is to get Dems and the press to waste time
chasing lies. The BS liars insert crappy little bullshit items that are tiny in nature in order to keep the conversation on their false claims. That is the goal. They want the conversation on their level so that the big issues of War in Iraq, the economy and other things can't come up.

They are a diversionary tactic. The RW trots them out because Senator Kerry is making good points and getting some positive airtime for his recent actions. These scumbags want to get Kerry down in the mud in an endless and intentionally unresolvable argument that will prevent him from speaking out on issues that damage Republicans. This is the express goal. In a way, it has nothing to do with Kerry. (Except that O'Neill really wishes he was Kerry and is striking out at him because he is jealous of all that Kerry has accomplished.)

These Charges Are False. Nightline did a piece on this and found out that O'Neill took a film crew to Vietnam and located some villagers who could talk about the Silver Star incident. The villagers verified Kerry and the United States Navy's account of what happened. O'Neill just shrugged his shoulders and left. He doesn't care about the truth. He only wants to smear Kerry. BTW, O'Neill and the other Liars aren't just smearing Kerry. They are smearing the US Navy and the command structure that thought enough of Kerry's bravery under fire to award him those medals in the first place. Instead, O'Neill chose to work for a friggin coward who didn't even bother to report for the rest of his token National Guard duty. O'Neill is a douchebag and should be treated as such. (And Corsi is even worse. He is a racist little maggot.)

behind the curtain of a keyboard, hell you could say your a millionaire.

If these guys are vets they are scum. My husband who served for 20 years would never question the service of a fellow brother. They are hurting those that served honorably by questioning Kerry's service. Ask them a few questions.

Did they serve in Vietnam?

If they served was it in the Navy?

If in the Navy which ship(s)were they on?

Did they serve with John Kerry?

Did they receive medals?

Were they discharged honorably?

Then ask them for proof. Of course then they'll babble on, then say well thats not proof, would you sign a 180, to verify, whats fair for one is fair for the slime.
