3. What's going to happen with
Cheney? Fitzgerald indicted Libby, is he the only culprit?

4. Why is it that one or a handful of lowly underlings
are always somehow able (willingly or otherwise) to soften the blow for the misdeeds and crimes of the higher-ups in this administration? Think Lindsey England/Abu Garab, Brownie/Katrina, etc., etc. These guys are as slippery as they come. NOTHING sticks to them. This sucks. :-(

5. This comment by
Dean leads me to believe this stinks!

"Good news for the White House, not so good news for America," Dean, the Democratic Party chairman, said Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

6. Somehow, this does not surprise me. I am disappointed. This man
deserves to serve time for crimes against his country, but he apparently is too important to Bush to rot in jail. I can only hope that eventually, he will get what he has coming to him.

7. Sorry I don't buy Rove's lawyer's SPIN --
Luskin always overstates everything -- Why won't fitz office comment?

Read this firedoglake entry:

http://www.firedoglake.com/2006/06/13/dodging-cipa-graymail-bulletsand-other-legal-notes/

<snip>

First, the NYTimes article from David Johnston this morning. (And a hat tip to Holden for the heads up on the article.) If Luskin is coming out and saying publicly that they got a letter from Pat Fitzgerald which says that Rove will not be charged, there are two things that I want to see and know: (1) what does the letter actually say, word for word; and (2) does it say something along the lines of "Please thank Karl for his cooperation in this matter."

<snip>

Here’s what the {NYT} article does say:

In a statement, Mr. Luskin said, "On June 12, 2006, Special Counsel Patrick Fitzgerald formally advised us that he does not anticipate seeking charges against Karl Rove."

Well, that’s a bit of overhype, frankly. Rove was not the only person that Fitzgerald was looking at in the grand scheme of this investigation. And to spin this as the case being over is laziness on the part of David Johnston — and the media writ large, frankly — who have never dug into this case to realize that the players were larger than the Libby and Rove narrative frame that the corporate media types have conveniently used throughout the investigation. And that the be all and end all of the case was not the ultimate criminal charges, but the exposure of the smarmy underbelly of the Bush Administration and their standard MO of attacking, with a vengeance, anyone who dares to question them — even when those questions are not only appropriate but also expose them in a lie.

<snip>

8. This may be politically incorrect here to say, but I'm going to say it
This does not bode well for William Pitt and Truthout. Their story was most definitely false, both in timing and in fact. Rove is a slimeball who probably talked in a double talk that allowed him to avoid perjury. We know what role he played in all of this; it's just that Fitzgerald knew he couldn't prove it in court . . . unless, Rove is cooperating. But that would only be speculation, and I'm not going to participate in that. Only the facts, please.

9. I agree with every word you said
I think what Pitt and Leopold did was let their desire of Rove being indicted get away of the facts. I think you're right that what happened was that he couldn't prove it. We'll get em though in time.
