Imus Follow-up: Every time I heard a min this morning -- talking about JK
Edited on Wed Jun-21-06 07:43 AM by demdiva
The first time a snarky guy from Boston was on and I didn't hear the whole thing, but I do remember being surprised that Imus was standing up for JK .... but I was pretty groggy ... did this really happen? I also remember them talking about "lie and die" and saying they hoped every politician doesn't turn into Jesse Jackson.

The next time I woke up, George Allen was criticizing the Kerry (Feingold) Amendment (I don't remember Feingold's name being mentioned once) and Imus said something along the lines of "I don't really remember his reason for the deadline because I was looking out the window and thinking about my kids" -- he was just trying to get George Allen to justify the reasoning for a deadline, which of course he wouldn't.

So then Imus - "Oh wait, I remember his reason, because it made sense to me at the time"
And he basically argued JK's point for him. He said (paraphrased) "Isn't the point that Iraqis have to begin taking responsibility for their country ... it's like telling a kid they have to get a job and move out .... if you don't give them a date they'll still be living at home at 38".

1. I heard the Allen one
It sounded like someone may have handed him a transcript. What was really annoying was that immediately after Allen left, Imus said something to the affect that he spoke to Allen and to Kerry and that they were both out of touch with reality. They needed to tell the Iraqis to get their act together. He and his crew then spoke of how we've been their too long and have done all that can be done. (Amazing! This was less than 10 minutes after what you quoted - so he clearly bought Kerry's argument then forgot it was Kerry's. )

But at least he was touting Kerry's position ???
I've decided to be optimistic right now.

3. That's a good way to look at it
It's not bad when he states as his opinion what is in essence is the kernal of Kerry's reasoning. It does mean that Kerry made his point. I also suspect that Imus can remember that he just said a short time before - so I think including Kerry with Allen in the out of touch statement was just his normal crankiness.

5. see, that's why I can't stand to watch Imus
He's so schizophrenic. I am beginning to suspect that his Kerry hatred is some sort of an act. He can't be that dumb as to contradict himself like that. I don't get it, but maybe Kerry does. Seems a strange way to stand up for a friend, if Imus does consider JK a friend.

6. Oh I totally think it's an act
It's kind of like my uncles ... they'll give you a hard time about stupid things just to be a smart @&&, but you know they really like you....

4. I held my breath when I saw your post not expecting anything good
from Imus, so it was nice to read that he seems to get it. Personally, I like the way Imus framed it, Parent's doing the responsible thing and pushing to make their children independent, contributing citizens.
