2. It's more than attack, and HELL YES
I come from a chemical dependency background. I have gone round and round with addicts and if you haven't debated with an addict about the reality of their chemical use or some aspect of the harm it inflicts, well you just really haven't had a debate yet. They learn all these "skills" of denying their problems, and continue to use them in all aspects of their life. So you either learn your own set of skills to deal with them, or they chew you up and spit you out in 30 seconds flat, and that's just for sport.

First, you never listen to their "junk", not ever. That's the back-up part. Then you focus your attention on the harm they've caused and demand it be cleaned up. That would the the reframe part. That's the two most important things to do, with ignoring their junk being the most important thing to do. You can stay lost in somebody else's addiction for years by trying to debate/reason/argue with their bullshit excuses and attacks.

Now, what you do from there depends on your own mental chess skill set and/or the knowledge you have about the issue at hand. If you're 100% confident in your ability to win, you go ahead and attack. (It really is necessary to get through to some people.)

If you're not, you skip the attack part and go straight to your own expectations and solutions. And then do it again, and again, and again.

So yeah, I think they've got it just about right. Ignore their junk, refocus on your own agenda, and attack AND/OR demand solutions.

Good analogy: stubborness/bad habits versus reasoning/resolve.

3. Hell yes from me as well
I just read this post over at fdl.

It is excellent. It is exactly what they have been doing to us for years.
Everytime we fall into their trap. They label dems, we either ignore it, or we
argue. Enough.

TRex is right. We don't need to answer to their 'cut and run' crap. That is exactly what they want us to do. To become defensive. Well I am sick of defending myself for being a progressive. It's time for them to start defending themselves...not us. They need to start providing explanations.
When the dems are in power, good things happen. When they are in power, they f*ck everything up.
Why do we have to answer to them? No more.

Kerry needs to read that post. He is so close. He is doing a great job attacking, but he is also on the defensive. He is in a great position right now, he has nothing to be defensive about.

Time for the dems to hold their heads up high...especially the ones that stood up today.

5. You guys see this comment from Taylor Marsh?
9 Taylor Marsh says:

June 22nd, 2006 at 2:14 pm

Hayduke - Reid screwed Kerry & Feingold yesterday, which had both men visibly fuming. Feingold was furious when he spoke on the Senate floor. Kerry was still debating Warner at 7:00 p.m. Pacific time and he dismantled the war horse completely, but who saw it? Then Kerry went on Anderson Cooper. Simply put Reid made sure Kerry & Feingold didn’t get the time they wanted and were banished to beyond the sunset hour.

7. I'm glad this is getting discussed.
It's amazing how all of these blogs and forums are on the same page.
It is time for the dems to change their stategy.
