6. Hey -- DC. Congrats!! I have a question for you.
Are you voting in the primary for your state in Aug? What's the sentiment around there? Are they really going to boot Lieberman out of the Democratic party? Are you voting for Lamont? I was just curious -- I didn't want to just believe what people said in the liberal blogosphere.

7. Well, it's like this......
My little town has decided to back him because,"he's a pretty religious guy" This from a school teacher who is on the Dem Town Comm. with me!!! I had to miss the caucus because I'm working at night now. I will be voting in the Aug. primary for Lamont, and there's a growing grassroots drive going on here. May I suggest, because I haven't figured out how to send threads from other forums, that you go to the CT. forum on DU and check out the latest that's going on. There is a lot of discussion about him at the moment. We've been talking about him on this forum for a long time now, trying to figure out the best candidate to run against him. He must be really WORRIED because he's had advertising on the local channels much earlier than usual. If he does win, it will be by a narrow margin, and hopefully he'll be worried enough to get the message!!! I'm afraid that he may be getting some help from the Rep. party tho'!! Sneaky Rove types of things are popping up here and there. I urge anyone here who cares, to throw some support to Lamont, I'm sure he can use it. DC

9. Very interesting . . . there was a report about Conn. on the
Jim Lehrer News Hour Friday night. What worries me is this: if Lieberman loses the Dem primary, he will run as an Independent, and supposedly will win. Would it be better for him to remain a Dem, if he's going to win anyway, or do you think Lamont would have a chance against an Independent Lieberman in the General?

10. life is a gamble. It's better to have him run as independent
because frankly, there's really no gaurentee he'd vote dem anyway. He's voting like a Repub. now, so what difference does it make? I think Ned has to just go for it.

And we hope they have a great GOTV effort.

14. Actually, Lieberman does not vote with the Repubs as much
as some of the other Dems do. He is not the most conservative Democrat in the Senate when you look at a wide variety of issues. He's just godawful on Iraq, and too conciliatory toward Bush.

16. on many of the issues I care about he's voted with the R's
And he's waaaay too conciliatory towards Bush. AND he opened the Senate Iraq hearings on the Republican side! That to me speaks volumns!

11. Good question!
I was just reading in the CT forum that there is a poll going on and the percentages said Lieberman shouldn't run as an Ind. There really is some good stuff on the forum, things I'm just learning about. Worth while going in there to read it yourself. Too much to relay. I did find out that there WILL be a debate between them on July6th, on our local NBC affiliate. It should be very interesting.

13. Congrats DC!
And I wanna see pics of that grandbaby, when he arrives. (Congrats again on this wonderful news!)

Also, thanks for the info on the CT primary. Leiberman has a fight on his hands and that can be good for a politician. (Ahm, if you will forgive a Mass-centric post, My taller Sen had opposition in 3 runs and real opposition in '96. Man of man, did he ever get better. But that is a long story, oft told here.)

BTW, DC how are you feeling? Anything left over from the accident in Jan? And save that train money, Dec is looking like a good time to be in Boston. (More details when available.)

18. Thanks Tay!!
I'm fine as far as the residual effects of the accident. I've always had back problems, and I guess I always will. My weight is giving me problems with my "stamina". I figure I've got a couple more good years yet. If I go to Boston, I'll probably drive. Most hotels have parking garages, no? I'm weaning myself off of the cigs. I tried going cold turkey, but I couldn't stand to be around myself!!!LOL My Dr. says I MUST QUIT because of the COPD, otherwise I'll end up with Emphysema and on Oxygen. I can just see myself walking around with a cigarette in my mouth with the tank on my back like in one of my favorite movies, "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" You most definitely will see pics of our new baby ASAP. As to the Ct. Primary, I heard on the news this AM he will have only 10 or 12 days to get over 7,000 signatures to get on the ballot as an IND, if he loses the Primary. I'm almost certain that the Repub can be beaten by Lamont. He's loaded, and with the grassroots support as it keeps growing, we'll be fine. I'm a bit sad about Lieberman 'cause he's done a lot for Ct. over the years. I just think his head has been turned by the neocons BECAUSE of his loyalty to Israel!!:grouphug:
