Camera Shy
Hey, Photography Group. Been lurking on this forum a LONG time, and thought it was finally time to post. Here are some architecture shots, taken from a CD-ROM I developed on the built heritage of Toronto (my adopted home).

Have a shot I'm going to enter in the March contest, but thought I'd share these too and see what sort of feedback I might get.

Looking foward to contributing more photos here, and as always, looking foward to seeing more of the great work y'all do.

1. Welcome, JeffR
These are great. I like the Laidlaw wing arches the best.

The Laidlaw is an old shot, but I've always liked it.

Your Arizona In Alaska submission is the best in the contest so far. The color and light are really gorgeous.

5. Thank YOU, Jeff...
I guess you know I fudged a little on the color and light, but I was assured that it was okay, so there it is. Actually, I went back to my original this morning and started to rework it, but after lightening it up a little and tweaking it just a tad, it still looks pretty much like my entry, so I just left it. I get consumed with guilt, you know, every time I use the PaintShop.

8. I hear ya
But my view is that if Steichen or Adams or any of the greats had access to Paintshop, Photoshop, et al, darn right THEY would have used them.

If your original shot wasn't as great as it is, no amount of post-processing would have done anything for it anyway.

2. That first shot is striking.
But the third shot, of the Flatiron Building, is really striking. I don't know why I like it so much, but it made me stop dead scrolling down to try and figure it out. :hi:

Can't wait to see what you submit in the contest.

4. Thanks, intheflow
Just made my submission, despite being pretty intimidated by what's already there!

The Flatiron is one of the most photographed buildings in the city. I've never seen (or taken) a bad shot of it.

Cheers.

6. I love your flatiron building
Maybe we should do a flatiron building contest. I think there must be one in every major city. There's one in San Francisco and I think one in New York.

I like your idea. Maybe a thread on non-rectangular buildings in general would be good (roundhouses, flatirons, lighthouses?).

11. Welcome to the group,
a great bunch of pics. No Flatirons here though if you went with none rectangular buildings I could do that, have a round house down the road. lol 3 stories is as tall as it gets here unless I drive 60 or so miles.

Glad I finally came out of the shadows here.

Upside of no tall buildings: great sky shots available all the time!
