Rosario Beach, take three...
I have come to the conclusion that Rosario Beach does not like me.

Rosario, on Whidby Island, is known as a great place to photograph the sunset. The first time I went there, back in 2007, evening brought a boring, cloudless sky. On my second attempt, this past April, the sky was right, but the state park was still closed for the winter. So, yesterday, with the park open and just the right blend of clouds and clear sky, it seemed a good time to make the two-hour drive again. Right? Wrong! Just as I neared the location, a second cloud bank appeared right along the horizon. There would be no bright refletions in the high clouds this time, either.

I got a couple of shots that were O.K., but not what I had been hoping for. Someday, I'm going to get there when the sky is right, and the results will be spectacular. Until then...

1. Beautiful shots, nonetheless.
I've been having similar issues with sunsets here this year. I took a few shots a couple nights ago, but wasn't satisfied enough with them to post.

3. I think that first one is pretty spectacular.
It doesn't hurt that the composition is perfect, but for me it's really down to the beauty of the light in that scene, captured very, very well.
