That there is a bird identification group on Flickr?

If you can't figure it out, post the picture there, and they will tell you what it is. You are not allowed to post pictures there of birds whose names you know.

my copy of petersens was published in 1969, and probably just a version of an earlier one

house finches had not migrated east then

4. It isn't always easy to identify
the birds though getting a photo makes it a lot easier than not. Had a bird just would not stick around for a good look no less a photo. Now that I know it is a nuthatch it stays around. The birds can be evil with the playing of mind games. :rofl: I will never be an expert but the more they hang around the more interesting the are.

What bird? has helped me a lot, Cornell too. Will have to keep the flicker site in mind now too.

days ago. They are rare around here. (central Ky)
