4. John Edwards a class act and a kind soul ......
In late summer or early fall I went to an Edwards event in Columbus @
a union hall. Edwards was late so I got up by the rope line that was close to the
stage so I could see him coming in and when he left. Well, he shook my
hand and then went on to give his stump speech all nice things but that
is not the point of this post.

After John was done talking and as he made his way out of the building he
shook hands and signed pictures for different people and then John met
this elderly women who couldn't get up out her chair. John got down so they
were on the same eye level to talk. Well the women got so overwhelmed
she started to cry and then John reached out and held her face in his hands.
He thanked her for coming out to see him and spent a few minutes just
with her. John also waved away cameras too.

That happened 10 feet from me. America is a better country because of John.

She was our first doggie. We found out that she had a cancerous tumor in her heart. The Vet wanted us to put her to sleep. We couldn't just then. We gave her THE BEST WEEK she ever had. The night before we were supposed to take her in, she passed away in our room, on her pillow. I miss her so much. So yes you're right. Goldens ARE very nice.

15. I must thank Jonathan Alter for the half-KOOS.
And I must say, Keith is sure fond of that Daffy Duck analogy--he uses it a lot.

Now I feel absolutely sure that at some point in 2003 while I was flipping channels looking for something to watch, in my pre-Countdown-fan days, I landed on the last few minutes of Countdown. It would have been on a night when Courtney Love was the #1 story because she was breaking down. I just remember a split screen, two guys talking about Courtney Love, and one of them making that Daffy Duck analogy--that she might self-immolate and get a lot of attention for it, but the trouble is, you can do it only once.

Damn. It MUST have been Keith.

33. Yep, that's what she said.
John said today that Elizabeth was fine, so I will take that as real.

What I think is that the behind-closed-doors machinations are at work, and we may never ever know the true reason for him dropping out now.

One thing he DID do, though, was get Clinton and Obama to talk more about the things he feels are important, and that's no small thing.

21. John Edwards & Family ... now you made me choke up. NBC news
Well I knew the story was going to be about John's dropping out
but what made me choke up was the last 15 seconds of the broadcast
from New Orleans .... Shot # 1 John Edwards with his son screwing in
a wood baluster (railing) for a house to help some Katrina victims. He was
holding his son and smiling .... talk about really getting "it" boy does
John get "it." Shot # 2 Elizabeth being bugged by a reporter well what
do they do now ..... "Well it is complicated." She said with a smile and
walked away.

My dream for John Edwards and family is really a simple one ... I want them
to have many days together such as a perfect fall afternoon where his younger
kids and John jump into a big leaf pile as Elizabeth and Cate look on and laugh.
After that I hope they have a nice family dinner and watch a DVD with some popcorn
and drinks. As Neil Young once said, "Long may you run."

***************************************

John dropping out now allowed his supporters to make their votes count in
Clinton v Obama

as for me ..... Obama bandwagon .... do you have room for me?

eat up!

BTW did i ever tell you that you are my Fav?

34. Hi, everybody.
I'm really bummed about Edwards. Of course, I'll support the Democratic nominee. I do have a question, though, and I figure it's safer to ask over here than on "other places" on DU.
Will Edwards still be on the ballot in states on Super Tuesday??? What about the states with early voting? If one were still to vote for Edwards, would the vote be counted?? Would he still get Super delegates or anything??? Or would it be a wasted vote, i.e., not counted??
I'm just wondering about all the political ramifications. I mean, jeez, Louise, I was gonna vote for Edwards, but why should I change my mind RIGHT NOW to one of the other two??
Help, please.......
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds.

39. Hi Janice.
Someone asked that question on Thom Hartmann's program this morning, and he said that in states that use printed ballots, it's probable that JRE would still be on them, as it may be too late to reprint them (not to mention expensive).

For the states that use those horrid e-voting machines, they may be able to reprogram them before Tsunami Tuesday.

40. Sadly, from what I gather, it would be wasted.
I mean, if you wanted to, you could still vote for him if your conscience dictated it...but I don't think it would have any effect.

It may be too late to take him off the Super Tuesday ballots but that may just mean those votes don't count.

The only 2 songs I can still play are Penny's From Heaven & Misty ...

and I can do the lead to "When the Saints come marching in."

BTW Eugene Oregon ... years ago ... Garcia & Santana played
gaiter for about an hour on stage .... me in a "happy glow"

Something tells me we'd find a lot of Django Reinhardt on his iPod right now.

Just like Dolly Parton's Cross-Your-Heart Bra.

But seriously, folks. Uplifting it was. Doesn't thinking about 9/11 always make YOU feel good?

You figured it out.

For $50,000,000 and no chance for it to make a damn bit of difference, however, I'd gladly be Rudy's delegate.

That doesn't make me a shallow person, does it?

110. Keith threw the Brazil card tonight!

That was so tasty. I'm actually looking forward to seeing "history" text books in 10 years to see what they call this period in our country's history. The new dark ages?

Keith's one of the few bright spots.
