If I hadn't gotten the good news about a the friend in Diamondhead (not far west of Gulfport) before I saw this, I would have been totally climbing the walls after seeing how much was laid waste. I'm guessing Katrina will be retroactively upgraded to a 5, as Andrew was.

I'm just heartsick as I watch this. All the flood pictures I've seen happening in LA, MS and AL reminds me of when Hurricane Floyd struck the Eastern part of North Carolina in 1999. It rained on us for days and flooded out cities and towns. It killed people, animals and just washed away some places to the point where they were never rebuilt.

This is horrifying.

I guess I just have to say this here: it amazes me that we hear complaints about Keith and his big ego and how he always has to put himself into a story--yet he goes and does an hour of television like this. Meanwhile we have the ever-exploitative Rita Cosby trying to wring our hearts out with "survivors' heartbreaking stories"--while she's in fricking ARUBA--don't you feel ashamed, woman? You should--and Joe Scarborough milks his own hurricane experiences for all they're worth (which is nothing). Oh, and he's going to tell us "how you can help." Guess what, pal, Keith scooped you on that one.

And this is the man who we are always hearing (from his enemies' rumors, anyway) that he can't handle breaking news. He just doesn't know what to do. Please...I would rather watch an hour of him than six hours of these other bozos.

Aside from that, what can be said? A city underwater, small towns gone, huge buildings tossed like toys?

Please, take care if this has had a direct effect on you. Take care of *yourself*. Know when it is time to unplug. Meanwhile, there will be a whole lot of people wishing you better news than you believe you can hope for.

I only have one friend from the area - not a close friend - and, of all things, I actually saw her in the grocery store tonight. She hasn't heard from her family, either. She was in tears, bless her heart.
