1. Think good thoughts for me tonight.
I've got a meeting tonight, and probably won't be back anytime soon. So snark a little snark for me, light a candle, and send up lots of :loveya: to Keith, to John, and to whatever dreamboat shows up on the show tonight.

:hi:

Double floatys for Craig :loveya: or David :loveya:, especially if they offer up a snarkrifice.

Believe it or not, I'm planning on keeping my mouth shut tonight. :)

strawberry fields. :( john lennon. that night i saw a very ugly side to my parents. i came home from my "want fries with that?" high school job to find my parents cheering the news that he had been murdered. i thought i was looking at strangers; i'd never seen them act like that before. i wasn't much of a beatles/lennon fan or agree with his stance on the vietnam war at the time, but i did think it was wrong to react to the death of someone, regardless of how you felt about that person, the way my parents did that night. the next day, my friends were all bummed out & my civics teacher cried & cried, pretty much solidifying the feeling i'd had the night before that my parents were horribly wrong in reacting as they did. is it any wonder i started to drift away from them emotionally?

123. i'm doing fine
freezing my butt off because i don't have a heater in this house except for space heaters (looong story). brrrrrrrrr for this south texas gal. any volunteers to come help keep me warm? (male, straight, available, intelligence & sense of humor a must; strong constitution as well because you might have to meet my family some day  )

yah, that night was truly surreal. my parents taught me a great many good things, which is why i was stunned by their actions (and also why i'm a dem today...what they taught me isn't evident at all in today's gop). do as i say, not as i do? :wtf: who the hell are you people & what did you do with my parents????? it was very scary & i really didn't know how to stand up for myself at the time (yeah, i know, :wow: but it's true; people who knew me in high school were absolutely gobsmacked to find out i became an attorney; people who know me now can't imagine me with anything but a big mouth, loud voice, & strong opinion.), so i just said "good night" & went to bed.

9. That's sad, wolfie.
My memories are very vivid, and no one in my college dorm was cheering. We were just stunned. We all seemed to know and love the Beatles. To think that John had been murdered was unthinkable.

Dan and Keith did a nice tribute to him on Dan's radio show today--pieces of his music were played and they talked about him a lot. On a SPORTS show. Keith said he happened to be DJ'ing on his old college radio station that night--he had come back for a visit to Cornell and they let him DJ, and the news that John had been shot came over while he was on the air there. They had just finished playing "In My Life" when they heard that John was dead.

So, Keith announced that, too.

We need a picture of him:

There, that's better.

with a similar story, they said their parents said 'he deserved to die, he was a Communist.' It's very hard to understand such thoughts.

Mr. Bunny had a dream the night BEFORE it happened in 1980. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with John Lennon and John Lennon turned to him and said he was dead. The next day, the day of the killing, we went to see 'Raging Bull' in a late afternoon movie, then we walked back to our apartment in the Village and stopped in at the florist around the corner called Fantasy Flowers (Double Fantasy had just been released you remember). The guy in the florist shop said to us 'Did you hear, they caught the guy who shot Lennon?' We had been in the movie and so we hadn't heard anything about him being shot yet. When we clarified with the florist just what he was talking about, Mr. Bunny looked pale and then he kind of slumped down on his knees and laid on the floor, almost fainted. True story. It was the only time he had a dream like that. Very, very freaky. From 1977 to 1979 I lived in an apartment building right across from the Dakota, right off of Central Park West. I saw John and Yoko in the deli on the corner of Columbus and 72nd all the time, but I was always too shy to say hello. I've always regreted that.

Mr. Bunny and I were also having a picnic out on the piers at the West Side Highway in October of 1980 when John had his birthday. Yoko hired skywriters to write Happy Birthday John in the sky and we could see it clearly from down on the piers. What a loss to the world. I often think about him now, and what a giant thorn he'd be in the side of this administration. In fact, if he had lived, we might never had even had this administration, he was that spiritual a presence on this earth.

We're surviving. We have a meeting with the people from hospice on Monday. Right now, we're all pretty comfortable with the idea. And if it helps her deal with her pain, then all the better.

So glad you & Mr. Bunny found each other. You deserve nothing but happiness!

And hugs to BunnyDad's family. It's a tough road, and one which each of us will eventually follow. I'm here for ya, if you need to talk.

Very freaky dream.
It's nice to know someone else was already married in 1980. We were living in New York and I woke up to my uncle (Dave Herman, who was a DJ on WNEW) talking about it. That's how I heard about it. Very sad day.

market myself (always my least favorite part of it), trying not to be too much of a slacker mom, and redecorating all at the same time (way too time consuming). Next week the kitchen gets demolished and we'll be eating take-out for awhile. Mr. Bunny is away on business, he's coming back tonight, ahead of the blizzard we are getting I hope (of course, a blizzard to New Yorkers is 3 inches, something my friends from Chicago would always rib me about).

He'd probably be talking Social Security, Medicare and pro-Israel talk at condos. He'd have been down here so much, he'd have bought a house here by now. I think under Gore, he'd have been benign. Bland as toast.

31. Rove testified without mentioning Cooper AFTER Vnak told Luskin
she knew, and that's another ten penny nail in KKKRove's coffin.

We just have to make sure that a silver stake is driven through his heart.

Edited on Thu Dec-08-05 08:20 PM by Patsy Stone
If that's true, what did Luskin tell Fitz that put off the indictment in Oct.? I doubt it had to do with this, because telling that to Fitz would incriminate his client. If I'm off base, or asking a question that's been answered, I've had my head in a cubicle, and didn't surf today.

Oh, and :hi:

71. Rove omitted mention of Cooper even after Luskin knew that Cooper's

name was going to come out.

http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/

Mr. Rove's lawyer, Robert D. Luskin, spoke in the summer or early fall of 2004 with Viveca Novak, a reporter for Time. In that conversation, Mr. Luskin heard from Ms. Novak that a colleague at the magazine, Matthew Cooper, might have interviewed Mr. Rove about the C.I.A. officer at the heart of the case, the people said. (my emphasis)

But on Saturday, December 3, the WaPo reported that "the conversation" took place before Rove's grand jury appearance in February 2004, and appears to be quite Viveca-centric in its sourcing.

It would appear that Mr. Luskin and Vivac may have spoken more than once on the topic. And it seems likely that when Luskin offered up his good friend Vivac in order to save his client, he told Fitzgerald that the relevant conversation (or conversations) happened a good while after Rove's testimony in February, 2004 where Rove presumably did not tell the grand jury about the Cooper conversation, because Fitzgerald's request for information starts in May 2004.

173. do we really know that *anything* that Luskin said actually
"put off the indictment" or is that just more Luskin spin? Could it be that Fitz simply wasn't ready to indict Rove and never had any intention of indicting him on 10/28?

Happy Xmas (War is Over)

John Lennon, Yoko Ono

(Happy Xmas Kyoko
Happy Xmas Julian)

So this is Xmas
And what have you done
Another year over
And a new one just begun
And so this is Xmas
I hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas
For weak and for strong
For rich and the poor ones
The world is so wrong
And so happy Xmas
For black and for white
For yellow and red ones
Let's stop all the fight

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear

And so this is Xmas
And what have we done
Another year over
A new one just begun
And so happy Xmas
We hope you have fun
The near and the dear one
The old and the young

A very Merry Xmas
And a happy New Year
Let's hope it's a good one
Without any fear
War is over, if you want it
War is over now

Happy Xmas

but really, Bill, a gold-silver finish isn't bad.

And you really do have to give the Marlins something, not only for their "fire sale," but for the snotty way they're treating their season ticket holders. Dan read the letter they sent out on his radio show today while Keith snarked on it with asides. Hilarious. The arrogance of these people again selling the team out from under the fans is incredible.

Of course, we Indians fans just call it "The Curse of Louis Sockalexis." :-)

There's a big brouhaha because a local school had a "holiday giving tree." Some ding dong complained about the tree having religious connotations (even though the word "Christmas" was NEVER used). So now...it's a holiday giving table. Seriously.

:loveya: Keith for another heartfelt tribute.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to see it pop up on Bloggermann later tonight. Actually, I'm kind of surprised it's not there already.

That was a touching story. I miss him, too. Do you think the crossover's gone for good, or that it was just for tonight, because of the Lennon story?

100. What stories did he cover tonight. Give me the summation if you can.
Who were the guests? Did he talk about the shooting of the man on the flight in Miami (are we safer yet?)? Did he discuss the fact that Fitzmas might be coming soon (please, oh please, oh please)? Did he talk about the shameful Patriot act extension, and the ever more disgusting tax cuts for the uber wealthy?

107. Yes on the shooting, and he mentioned that
some of the witnesses said they didn't hear anything about a bomb. He talked more about who was testifying for Fitz -- see upthread for Bleever's post.... Um, I'm sure someone else can fill in more....

174. yes on the Miami shooting story
(KO clearly not taking the marshals' story at face value after what happened in London) and an update on the CIA leak case (mostly talking about V. Novak & Luskin). Nothing about the Patriot Act or tax cuts although he may cover those tonight; who knows?

163. Well, they kept on yapping, and I finally spoke.
In a real voice, squeaking away, saying "I really can't comment on any of this, and I'm uncomfortable with this discussion." One lady said "it's not like we're going to go out and blab to others." And my secretary, bless her, said "who's not? I blab... all the time!" I roared with laughter... and the rest of them shut the hell up.

I love 'em. I really do - but damn.

having forgotten that of course because Rita wasn't there live, they might need someone to cover the plane news live!

DAMN!!!

Now I will have to tape her damn show tonight!

I suppose I can keep it on with the sound down (I just can't bear to listen to her) and keep an eye out just in case he appears again. But I am definitely taping the first few minutes tonight.

on edit: He's back. Unfortunately the news is not good from Midway. But at least I have MSNBC back on and am watching bonus Keith.

130. I wish they were giving KO more to work with.
CNN has witnesses and Chicago area stations; but it's still better than Fox. Hannity has Arianna Huffington!

Still...KO is making a souffle out of the pile of rocks they're giving him.

166. They didn't 86 the crossover; they just can't do it when Rita's away
which she is, in Afghanistan.

They've done the crossover with two subs when someone else is doing her show because she's in transit, but during the time she's been there, and a few other times she's been elsewhere, Keith has done a cold closing again.

Tonight's closing was especially nice. I'm glad he got to do it--a serious, respectful closing to commemorate John (although he still said "Keep your knees loose," he didn't pitch the paper wad or smile--he just said "Good night and good luck," and shuffled script until the camera went off him). At least he got to do a proper closing before being pulled back on duty to cover the plane news.

I'd love to have Rita be forced to take the steroid test. Something tells me they'd find enough testosterone in her to sink a battleship. (Reminds me of the old story of the guy connected to the East German Olympic women's swimming team, who was asked by reporters why all the women on the team had such deep voices--the implication being that they were on steroids. His answer: "We have come here to swim--not to sing.")

159. They threw it to Joe Scaryborough at 10.
He went to Michelle Koczinski in Chicago for more information, and she called him "Keith." LOL.

I'm going to tape the first half of Rita Skeeter tonight in hopes of catching what I missed of him. Which seems to be the Katie Doodah thing (most likely Duda, though).

Can you believe that although Joe is doing some stuff on John tonight, he is also covering the family of Mr. Dead Honeymoon Cruise Guy? His own personal Natalee Holloway. Please.
