Enjoy the show tonight -- I probably won't be watching
I forgot Michigan's bowl game is on tonight, starting at 8. I may tape the show and watch it tomorrow.

Go Blue!

2. Thanks, DG
If I recall, the last time you were rooting for us to win, we lost. Of course you were watching the game with me in DC that time. I don't really think it was your fault. We just sucked and had a bad season.

Hope you had a good time with your family and that your butt is feeling better.

I'll be back online tomorrow night and then we're going away with friends for the weekend. They built a house in Saugatuck, a cute little town on the west side of the state. Their daughters and one's husband and the other's boyfriend were supposed to go and aren't now, so they invited us to go with them. I'm very excited. We had no clue what we were going to do for new year's.

Yes, they are. So, no political arguments over the weekend. Unlike when I went to see the Producers with my dad today and I made a stupid move and asked him how he liked having his calls to my brother and sister in Israel wiretapped. He said he has no problem with it. The pretzeldent can do whatever he wants during time of war, according to him. Then I got into my car and felt like crying.

5. Wow- sounds like something my Dad would say!
Only he is a Bible-belt fundamentalist republican in the Deep South.
Before the 2004 election, he wrote an email to all us kids telling us that
this was the most important election of all time time in regard to
right vs wrong- and that he prayed that we voted for *.

Yes, I know what you mean about crying.....

6. And my folks always used to vote Democratic
They voted for Gore in 2000. There was just something about this election and Israel that made them vote for Bush, but for the life of me I still don't get it. That's their key issue -- nothing else matters as much to them. Why they would think Kerry would be bad for Israel is beyond me. I thought by now maybe they would have seen the light, but the comment my dad made today clinched it -- if he doesn't mind the wiretapping, he'll never change his mind. I just have to learn to keep my mouth shut and not bring up politics ever again around them.

7. Yes, I can't talk politics with my family either.
Interestingly, you pointed out another similarity with someone in my family.
My sister is a "one issue" voter- she is against abortion, and supports * ONLY because
she thinks he will change the SCOTUS to overturn RvW. Nothing else matters to her.

Guess this is why the repugs have been able to keep a loyal base....

11. this is so weird
my parents always claimed they were "independents," but really, they mostly voted republican. however, my dad was very, um, "particular" when it came to messing with the bill of rights. having gone through the mccarthy era, he warned my brothers & i about witchhunts & often quoted ben franklin to us "those who give up liberty for security deserve neither" & such. republicans like my dad are long gone, i'm afraid.

my former friend, the fundie nutjob, is also an issue voter--abortion & gay rights--claiming god wants those discriminatory laws on the books & she'll be judged by god on what her stance was on these issues & not things like tolerance for others, caring for the poor, etc, you know, that junk that god's hippie jewish liberal son blathered on about....

9. Game didn't end until after midnight
Nope, we lost 32-28. The officiating was awful. Even Herbstreit and Tirico (the analysts) said it was the worst officiating they had ever seen. If a couple of plays or calls had gone the other way, we would have won. Oh, well, maybe this will speed up the process of getting rid of Lloyd Carr.

Although I blame the officiating way more than I blame you. Actually, I don't blame you at all.

13. With out a doubt Sharon
That worst officiated game I have ever seen ..... Michigan would have toasted Nebraska with just
a so so called game. Lloyd did fine. He saw the mistakes by the refs and had to use the U of M's
timeouts just so those dolts would notice.

BTW after the second play Herbie (who wouldn't say crap if he had a mouthful) dropped; Ah, I think the
refs better realize that they have real athletes on the field tonight and this is not the Sun Belt Conference
and they have to be in place to see the plays happen.

And who was that head ump who looked like he forgot to put in his dentures?

U of M should have had the ball 1st & Goal on the 2 yard line after the Nebraska player climbed onto
the wide out's back.

14. According to my hubby, that's an NFL rule, but not NCAA
We definitely should have had that score. And there was another one very late in the game they didn't call, but Lloyd was out of timeouts.

How did you like that bit of choreography at the end? Strangest play I've ever seen, if you can call it a play. Should be sure to make some highlights film.

15. I know that.
But it penalized U of M even though they were playing under the rules.

Even that last play was dirty ..... the Nebraska football team had left the sidelines and was on the field there by preventing
the michigan players with the ball from cutting back across the grain and giving the Nebraska defenders a better angel
of pursuit and a smaller field to defend.

Those officials should never work another game ever and that includes pee wee ball.
