on the show (i.e., friends for many years). Since he's lived in NY and LA and is something of a celebrity himself, I'm not surprised that he's met a few actors, whether or not they can/do act. ;-)

on edit: and why are you curious about that at 6am on a Sunday? Surely this isn't giving you insomnia. :P I just popped in while waiting for a new kernel to finish building. :hangover:

It's possible that they were neighbors during the first time he lived in Los Angeles (1984-92). That is most likely the means by which they met. He moved back to the East Coast to join ESPN three years before she died.

but it seems like sports. This is the story I keep finding when I search. How he's reminded of what she told him when she's approached by fans. This article offered a bit more info in its version (like the fact that they were close enough for him to call her "Lizzie") but still, no real background.

EM sounds like she was a great person, not to mention beautiful. I also remember her narrating a documentary about Iran-Contra, or something similar.

It just goes to show how gracious some celebs are. I once read that Beverly Sills, when asked if she didn't get tired of having to meet with all her fans everywhere, said "No. I don't HAVE to meet with them. I GET to meet them."
