I'm just kind of kicking this thought around, but I'd like to see where it goes.
1. Barring any new revelations, it appears that US Marines last winter executed several civilians in cold blood. This is (rightly) causing something of a crisis of conscience for all but the most Kool-Aid drinking freepers in America.
2. Barring any new revelations, it appears that death squads in the US-trained and supported Iraqi government have been executing literally dozens of civilians in cold blood every day. This has not caused a noticeable crisis of conscience outside of "the Left".
Why is that? Is it racism (well, we expect that from Mesopotamians, after all...)? Sexism (at least the Iraqis only are executing male civilians)? The M$M blackout of the death squad stories (with the notable and courageous exception of the Washington Post, an otherwise thoroughly pro-war rag)?
Without minimizing the horror of the Marine massacre, why is it receiving so much more attention than the literal death squads the US government has trained and funded?
