You know, if I were running things and hadn't caught him yet, I sure as hell wouldn't be bringing up 9-11 every time I opened my mouth. I'd be afraid that someone might think I had some sort of agenda other than protecting the country from another attack by the guy.

1. Gee, wasn't it some guy named Saddam?
Yeah, yeah. You know, that guy in Iraq. He was caught. Didn't you hear he's on trial. The trial must be about 9/11 but I can't figure out why the trial isn't here or at the Hague.

11. I'd like to take this opportunity to offer kudos to former Senator Bob
Graham of Florida for coming up with, or at least popularizing that moniker for the man behind the 9/11 disasters.

Senator Bob, I sure wish you hadn't had those clogged arteries mess up your plans to run for President in 2004.

8. I think you may be on to something, or is it that George
W. Bush is not as smart as the guy in question and cannot figure out how to find him. Or is it that he just really likes scaring folks into supporting him so that they will forget what a goof he is.

You know, every time he isn't talking about "terror", 911, or the evil of Saddam, the subject of Bird flu rears its scary head.

9. John Ashcroft?
The bastard wasn't invited to Crawford, so he flew commercial to Missouri. That is, he flew commercial until a "threat assesment" got made stating he should start flying government charters in July 2001. Too bad Ashcan didn't warn th eflying public.

Ashcroft Flying High

WASHINGTON, July 26, 2001

(CBS) Fishing rod in hand, Attorney General John Ashcroft left on a weekend trip to Missouri Thursday afternoon aboard a chartered government jet, reports CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart.

In response to inquiries from CBS News over why Ashcroft was traveling exclusively by leased jet aircraft instead of commercial airlines, the Justice Department cited what it called a "threat assessment" by the FBI, and said Ashcroft has been advised to travel only by private jet for the remainder of his term.

"There was a threat assessment and there are guidelines. He is acting under the guidelines," an FBI spokesman said. Neither the FBI nor the Justice Department, however, would identify what the threat was, when it was detected or who made it.

A senior official at the CIA said he was unaware of specific threats against any Cabinet member, and Ashcroft himself, in a speech in California, seemed unsure of the nature of the threat.

"I don't do threat assessments myself and I rely on those whose responsibility it is in the law enforcement community, particularly the FBI. And I try to stay within the guidelines that they've suggested I should stay within for those purposes," Ashcroft said.

Asked if he knew anything about the threat or who might have made it, the attorney general replied, "Frankly, I don't. That's the answer."

26. Dems need to start pushing the hell out of this.
Republicans wanted to present the image of being strong on terrorism. They say we are fighting them in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here, which is about the 5th reason for going to war. If we are fighting them over there so we don't have to fight them here, why couldn't we have just had a bigger presence in Afghanistan until we caught Bin Laden? We took on more fronts than necessary.

Bush doesn't care about catching Bin Laden, and he has pretty much said so. When he was called on it during the debate, he just said it was "one of those Ex ag er ations". Even when they SHOWED video of him making the statement of his lack of concern with Bin Laden, idiots STILL viewed him as being stronger on terror.

What REALLY gets me, is that after Bin Laden showed his mug on video a couple of days before election, it was good for Bush. HOW THE FUCK WAS IT GOOD FOR BUSH????? All the Dems had to do was yell and scream, "If Bush is strong on terror, WHY IS BIN LADEN STILL OUT THERE?" Commercial after commercial could have been used.

We can't make the same mistake with this coming elections. What people viewed as the republican's strength is an obvious weakness, and unless the Democratic party pushes that issue in a clear manner, we could be in trouble again, even with Bush's crap approval ratings.

29. why has jr s**t-stain never shown us any real evidence of who did it?
he SAID, immediately after the attacks that it was OBL, and somehow, miraculously, the names and complete bios of all 19 highjackers were also known immediately -- but OBL in fact denied being involved in the attacks and we have never been shown any evidence whatsoever that he was the "mastermind."

Why wouldn't a true leader want a complete, thorough, and transparent investigation into the events of 9/11? What is little king turd trying to cover up, anyway, with his gagging of Sibel Edmonds, stonewalling, and then testifying behind closed doors while sitting on Unca Dick's lap like a ventriloquist dummy? Why don't the bushbots ever question this? Why can't we see all the tapes immediately seized in the vicinity of the Pentagon attack? Why won't they show us the aircraft pieces supposedly laid out in some hangar somewhere? (AS IF pieces of commercial airliner are somehow "classified" or "related to national security") Why did Cheney (or was it Rum-filled? they're all variations of the same evil monster) say Flight 93 had been "shot down"??

OBL is basking on some beach somewhere, sipping sloe gin fizzes and thanking his lucky stars for his unending partnership with the BFEE that provides his monthly stipend and high-living unfettered free existence guaranteed for life (cemented by the gift of PROMIS software that keeps him up to date on the search for himself) in return for his "role" in 9/11.

35. "Osama" vs. "Usama": I have a theory as to why Bush hasn't caught him
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 09:00 AM by KansDem
http://www.themediadrop.com/archives/001473.php

You say "Usama," I say "Osama"
This week, I've been having a few ongoing discussions about the use of "Osama" or "Usama" by various news outlets to describe O/Usama bin Laden, regarded as the leader of the al Qaeda terror organization.

Matthew Sheffield led me to this article at Slate from 2001, "How Do You Spell “Osama”?," and I've bounced the idea off of a few people - with slightly mixed results. So figuring there had to be a way to get to the bottom of why a lot of news organizations were using "Osama," I checked in with the Associated Press, whose stylebook many mediafolk follow to the comma. Here's what I got:

The AP uses "Osama" because it is the most common usage of the name. Transliteration seems to be the culprit here, as this manner of bringing a language's alphabet into another's is not perfect - especially when it comes to vowels in the Arabic->English shift. So while Slate states that "In a document published by the Wall Street Journal on Oct. 3, 2001, the al-Qaida leader Romanized his name as “Usama”," the common usage still begins with an "O". I'm not even going to start on the "al Qaeda, al-Qaida, al-Qaeda, al Qaida" thing. And you thought "and sometimes Y" was tough to follow!

So be prepared for Bush, when confronted about why he hasn't found Usama yet, to throw up his hands and, with that smirk and obnoxious giggling/snorting, and say, "Hahaha, My bad! I've been looking in the 'Os!'...hahaha"
