Satellite Radio.... Sirius/XM?? (again....sorry!)
Wasn't paying attention to any of the previous discussions about satellite radio in cars, but now I am going to begin serious car-shopping, to buy a new car this summer. Which makes/models come with satellite radio already installed, ready to subscribe to? Does Sirius or XM have the most "liberal" talk? I would like AAR, but don't care about Howard Stern. The cost per month to subscribe?

Thanks for any info, and sorry to bring this up yet again!

1. XM has AAR exclusively. Sirius has Big Eddie, Young Turks, Steph Miller...
Thom Hartmann, etc.

3. You can get XM as low as $9.95 a month....
with a multi-year subscription. As far as this topic goes, if you want AAR you have to get XM. As noted Sirius does have some good Progressive content. After that it's all about comparing the music lineups and then decide what you want.

4. cost is the same, music programming is equal;
any factory XM can be converted to Sirius for about $100. Sirius is the leader in technology right now and will probably win out. Xm has better left talk, Sirius has Howard ( which , by the way is very good if you can get over the crude talk)......either way , you will never go back to "free radio" again. I feel it's worth every penny. About a $250 up front investment to have it in the car and in the house, $13 a month after that.

6. Sirius will probably win out? I thought they were in big $$ trouble...
after facing big losses with bringing on Stern and not recouping the subscriptions they were expecting, when his fans didn't follow in the numbers expected? Don't take offense, Sirius fans. This is a sincere question based on what has been reported in the past few months...

12. wrong, but doesn't matter,both are good

Stern brought about 6 mill plus listeners and they couldn't make the radios fast enough. The law suite carries no water and has been settled out ot court for 2 mill. but the question isn't about Stren, it's about what you want to listen to and the technology that brings it to you. Both are good. I still have my money on Sirius, in two years there could be an other company with a technology that makes both of them extinct.

5. Though I don't like XM being owned by News Corp, it does have AAR for me..

and Sirius dropped the ball earlier when it came to sustaining it's earlier progressive talk lead which had me drop them.

Not only that, but if you're a college sports fan, you might want to check which service carries your teams' games (basketball and football). One or the other will have most of your games. Fortunately for me, XM also had Iowa's games on it too, so it made it more of a solid decision to go with XM for me. Other Big 10 schools except for Michigan and Ohio State are carried by XM as well.

This might be especially useful if you're not wanting to switch to DirecTV to get some football games in the fall that might be exclusively on that with their new "Big 10 network" that were previously carried on both DirecTV and Dish Network through ESPN game plan. This new Big 10 network deal was just announced, so not sure whether it will be limited to DirecTV, but for some of us, having satellite radio coverage might be a useful alternative. I definitely won't give up Free Speech TV on Dish Network, nor support Murdoch with DirecTV too just to get some second rung football game coverage not carried by ESPN gameplan.

9. XM was earlier partially owned by Clear Channel...
and has since had pulled back from that ownership position. That wss where a lot of the earlier controversy was in discussions.

There has though, been ownership stakes by Newscorp. Now Newscorp doesn't "control" XM like it does other entities that it does moreso like DirecTV, but it does have a stake in it.

And Newscorp and Rupert Murdoch have also been recently helping Hillary with fundraisers too. Is Newscorp more liberal or is something else going on? I tend to believe the latter.
