VIENNA, Austria Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says Iran will not have much time to respond to an international offer of rewards aimed at halting its uranium enrichment. snip

In separate comments on National Public Radio, Rice suggested she's ready to meet her Iranian counterpart, if Tehran agrees to suspend the nuclear activity and negotiate the details of the deal. snip

Iran says it welcomes direct talks but rejects the condition that it first suspend uranium enrichment. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes.

Iran faces "moment of truth": Rice
Fri Jun 2, 2006 7:27am ET

VIENNA (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said on Friday
Iran faced a "moment of truth", with Russia and China now in full support
of robust penalties for Tehran if it does not scale back its nuclear program.

In a series of taped interviews with major American television networks and
National Public Radio, Rice said the five permanent members of the U.N.
Security Council and Germany were hopeful Iran would take time to consider
an agreement announced Thursday night.

But while insisting she was not one to lay down deadlines, Rice repeated earlier
warnings by senior U.S. officials that Tehran had a "matter of weeks", not months,
to deliver a definitive response.

Iran is facing a "moment of truth," she told CBS Television.

The neocons are out in force telling Iran to comply or else.
They're playing a game of bad cop (Rice), worse cop (Bolton).
