An Inconvenient Truth

I want to write this review so every reader will begin it and finish it. I am a liberal, but I do not intend this as a review reflecting any kind of politics. It reflects the truth as I understand it, and it represents, I believe, agreement among the world's experts.

Global warming is real.

Mankind and its governments must begin immediate action to halt and reverse it.

When I said I was going to a press screening of "An Inconvenient Truth," a friend said, "Al Gore talking about the environment! Bor...ing!" This is not a boring film. The director, Davis Guggenheim, uses words, images and Gore's concise litany of facts to build a film that is fascinating and relentless. In 39 years, I have never written these words in a movie review, but here they are: You owe it to yourself to see this film. If you do not, and you have grandchildren, you should explain to them why you decided not to.

Even if this makes a small inroad into the Global Warming deniers beliefs, it's a good thing.

And I'm glad that it's such a watchable movie and getting good reviews.

You don't change minds by being preachy and arrogant.

he's a good guy.

Be it liberal or Progressive...he's written some wonderful Op-Eds in the Sun-Times that were highly critical of the Repugnican agendas and their attempts to censor popular culture.

Roeper...who once had wingnut tendacies...is also of the same mindset now. His columns are some of the brighest lights in this once proud paper...until Conrad Black got a hold of it.

And with no defensiveness and no apology, simply as a statement of fact. After all, it's not like he's got something to apologize for.

I saw the book at my local indie bookstore yesterday, and I almost picked it up. I beleive after all the corruption and dirtiness of this current crop of leaders, people are really hungry for the truth. God God God, I hope I can see him! I have to go back and get it now! Damn!

I give the man kudos for showing it to Grover Norquist & Company. It'll be interesting to see how many take me up on my offer. My husband, children and I are planning on going Sunday. I can't wait to see if any of my Hispanic staff go - some of them speak English but all of them are desperately worried about global climate change. It's a regular topic of converation at lunch, daily.

It is a shame Al Gore did not find a movie producer to ditribute this before now, as a documentary. I have been asking for weeks and weeks wondering, where are all the leaders with spines, who have the fricking cohones and balls to stand up for what is moral, honest and responsible???? And there he is.
If you know something is wrong with your world and the evidence is laid right in front of you what is wrong with it, what will you do?
I don't think America is ready for the bombshells to come, not with all the knuckledraggers and neanderthals who actually for Bush. Every country in the world voted for Kyoto, except for USA and Canada.
You owe it to your children to see this movie. I hope it changes your life. I know it changed mine.
