LAS VEGAS (Hollywood Reporter) - Katie Couric hopes to bring a "humanistic, more accessible" approach to her job when she takes over as anchor and managing editor at "CBS Evening News" in September, she said Thursday.

7. Hey, she's doing us a favor
We already know that the "news" is a bunch of tabloid fluff intersperced with RNC talking points, government manufactured "newsreel" and pro corporate propaganda. Having the queen of fluff read it at night will drive that point home to people who still haven't figured it out yet.

It sounds like she's going to try to keep that giggly girl next door persona. Considering the state of the evening "news," that's probably a good thing.

3. That's that famous republican code-speak again. When she says
end the "pretentious era" she is really saying she will end the "Liberal News era". "See I'm not like that nasty ole Dan Rather".

4. You know, "pretentious," all pompous ands serious and boring.
Who wants to hear about the economy and politics and world affairs, thats all so pretentious and intellectual, thats for pointy-heads.

We're gonna have news about Britney's baby and Laura Bush's christmas decorations and the new PMS drug coming out.

8. Maybe we liberals should just wait and see?
How about a month or two and then turn her off if you don't like her take on the news. I remember when she was a reporter she was good. We should have some understanding of how different the today show is and the news hour. Giver her a listen before you chastise her.

Enough of this silly war, famine, global warming. Who wants to hear about that, when we can talk about Angelina and Brad and American Idol!

15. I fully expect one or both of the Bush twins to be foisted on some...
poor sap(s) so that Katie can get an exclusive on the engagement parties and the White House wedding.

Can you imagine a double wedding, my God, that would fill the airwaves for hours.
