Freeperisms
This is not an actual one, but I am sure it could be one!

"I was uphauled when I heard this!"

How uphauling.

My personal favorite is "(Democrat) is a looser."

Of course, we can't forget "moran."

What are your favorites?

1. a minor offense:
But I like when they say "could of" or "should of", instead of "could have" etc.

8. Unfortunately that's not just a freeperism.
I see that in a lot of places, including right here on DU. I think they are intending to use the contraction, i.e. "could've" or "should've".

4. Many cite the Franklin quote you have in your sig line
Of course, they "edit" it a little. Usually it comes out as something like "those who give up liberty to obtain safety deserve neither."

This isn't a swipe at your choice of quotations, by the way -- it's along the lines of cringing at the typical Freeper spelling atrocities. Even Freepers are capable of understanding wisdom when they hear it. But spelling it, or more so, following it, seems to be beyond the capabilities of most of them.

They also like the "watering the tree of Liberty" quote by Jefferson -- with similar results. And I'm still convinced that The Magistrate's whole "sir" and "ma'am" routine is a way to mock them. I used to call it "Patrick Henryitis", since Henry used "sir" as a way to make his prose turgid, too. But Henry at least had a Damn Good Reason -- and The Magistrate has a good sense of irony and literary voice.

7. A pet peeve of mine is the abuse of the "tree of liberty" quote.
It is always used by wingers while taken wildly out of context. I know it fits nicely on a t-shirt or a sig line, but it just bugs me that people who don't read their history, act as if it is some biblical like saying.

Bertrand Barère de Vieuzac liked it so much, that he gave a speech to the French national assembly where he said “L’arbre de la liberté… croît lorsqu’il est arrosé du sang de toute espèce de tyrans (The tree of liberty grows only when watered by the blood of tyrants),” which pretty much kicked the French revolution into high gear. Of course the French then got the Guillotine going, and heads rolling, and ironically, climaxed with the most vicious tyrant of all; Napoleon Bonaparte taking power.

Jefferson admitted years later that he wished he would have never said it.

18. Surprising because I think of freepers as believing that a trade
is possible and a willingness to go along with Bushco, as in "what good are liberties if we are all dead?"

15. Yeah, what does that mean?
I tried to sign on there to ask, and--from the first time I tried--I got a message saying I had lost my "posting privileges". Apparently, they're onto me. Interesting,'cuz they don't seem that smart.

13. "It is sad that you are so diluted that you actually believe
that you accomplished something by your vulgar tirade."

Oh man, I hate it when I'm "diluted" like that.

BTW, that's an actual quote from one of the many hate mails a Coulter Heckler received.
