1. From KO's report last night, all they did was purge their transcripts
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 02:32 PM by LSparkle
so that they had Billo saying, "AFTER Malmedy, our soldiers captured Germans and ... " instead of "AT Malmedy ... " like he really did.

I actually listened to part of his radio show this morning to see if he'd respond, but he didn't mention it during the half hour I endured.

10. Yeah, you're right -- the transcripts were changed to Normandy
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 02:49 PM by LSparkle
but his response to the viewer e-mail was to say "after" instead of "at."

Makes it even MORE obvious a cover-up -- they didn't even "correct" it consistently!

2. It will be interesting to see if he does.
What will he say about the bodacious ass-kicking he got from Olbermann? His usual response to criticism from KO and other media people is just to claim their show isn't as popular as his. He tried to sue Al Franken, but we all saw how that turned out.

3. Youre expecting an apology?
Cmon man. Youve seen this before. Itll be a glossover and then a purge , ignoring it makes it go away.

11. Exactly. He'll "apologize" to the effect of distorting and glossing over
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 03:12 PM by PublicWrath
what he actually said, and announce he's putting the whole event away forever, -just as he did when Faux had to settle out of court on the sexual harassment charge. He'll make it sound like any further mention of the episode would be unjust and unfair to both himself and the US military and would probably hinder the war-on-terror.

4. I feel so dirty now...
...(cross-posted to another KO thread!) I actually went to the Faux News site looking for Billo's response. :puke:  Didn't see anything, but I gotta go take a long, hot, cleansing shower now... :scared: Those Faux creepies really make me cringe....

...to this Capitol Hill Blue article titled "Bill O'Reilly: A dangerous demagogue of deceit"

But then again, I've seen some of you GD denizens slamming CHB lately....

O'Reilly The Historian??

Sorry about the vanity. It is my first and hopefully my last, but this has me pretty well boiling.

I did a real double take this evening during Bill O'Reilly's conversation with General Wesley Clark. Talking about past incidents of wartime atrocities, O'Reilly twice mentioned Malmedy. The first time I merely thought it was out of place in what otherwise seemed to be a listing of atrocities committed against American troops. However, when Clark pushed him a little, O'Reilly spouted on about Malmedy being a massacre of SS Troops by Americans. It was, of course, precisely the opposite, but the learned Mr. O'Reilly seemed not to know that, nor did General Clark correct him. How dumb are we getting? Doesn't O'Reilly claim to have once taught history?

<snip>
To: blau993
Did he also mention that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?

To: blau993
Tell Bill that the Malmedy massacre was carried out by the 9th SS Pioneers of Kampfgruppe Peiper , of the 1st SS Panzer Division "Leibstandarte Adolf Hitler". Somewhere between 130 and 170 American artillerymen who had been taken prisoner near the Malmedy crossroads were murdered. The man who fired the first shot was an SS Sturmmann named Georg Phleps. Convicted along with Peiper at Nuremberg were SS Oberstgruppenfuhrer Josef "Sepp" Dietrich, CG, 6th SS Panzer Army, Hermann Priess, SS Brigadefuhrer and 6th SS pz. Army C/S, and the divisional commander. If Bill has questions, have him call me. I'll invite him into my "No BS/Bloviation Zone"

I don't know about Bill O'Reilly's background but Clark (4-Star General retired) graduated at the top of his class at West Point and was a Rhodes Scholar. He also had an impressive military career that spanned 40 years and is one of the most highly decorated miltary men in the country. He has been awarded the Silver Star, five Defense Distinguished Service Medals, four Legion of Merit Awards, two Army Distinguished Service Medals, two Bronze Star Medals and the Purple Heart.

Now - if we can't stand his lying, forced phone-sex face, and they think he is a blow-hard - who the hell is watching his show?!

Off to the shower!! The things I do for y'all!

Nothing but silence when a whacko does it. I dont care if he isnt a Senator, hes a huge mouthpiece with more power than Durbin ever had.

12. Hell, my family and I take this shit personally. . .
My father was in the US Army's ill-fated 106th Infantry Division in December 1944. He was taken prisoner in the town of St. Vith, Belgium on December 16, 1944, one day before and some 20 miles away from the Malmedy incident. He was liberated from a prison camp (Stalag 4-B) in mid-April 1945.

He passed away on January 30, 2005. As much as I still miss him now, I'm glad he's not around to hear about this latest bullshit from O'Really. As it is, he's probably up there in the heavenly peanut gallery with my Army Air Corps uncles telling us to flay the bastard any which way we can.

13. It's not possible for republicans...

That may be the only commonality between the republican party and a very large segment of the American public.

14. Is anyone else planning to tune in tonight to see how O'Really tries
to weasel out of it? Bet Faux will make him say something.
They've probably been trying to work out an angle since KO's report last night, -feverishly in fact. Then again, their tactic might be to say nothing at all and hope it's soon forgotten. It won't be.

15. The Faux "News" audience (but for those of us who tune in...
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 03:45 PM by TWriterD
to see what the enemy is up to) is pathologically loyal. They tune in because they hear nothing but what they want to hear. I'd wager that the vast majority hasn't even heard of Keith O (unless they have some interest in sports) and they certainly do not watch MSNBC. Faux changed the transcript to read "Normandy" and O'Lielly explained away his error by saying it was caused by "the heat of debate." That's all that small-minded Faux loyalists need to hear. How many do you think are actually going to take the time to research what actually happened at Malmedy? Who do you think is going to hold O'Lielly accountable? Hell, he called for blowing up Coit Tower and received about zero flack for that, but from the big, bad librul bloggers.

17. Someone should ask him "the "heat" of which "debate"?
Edited on Fri Jun-02-06 07:14 PM by NI4NI
the first "debate" when he claimed his moronic mountain of a mistake as "documented" historical fact, or the recent second "debate" long after the first, when he repeated it over again? It must really suck to be O'Reilly.

O'Leilly is in total control - he just orders anyone who challenges him to "shut up" or cuts off their mikes. Which makes me wonder why anyone would agree to go on his show - only to be treated with contempt. If they didn't have Dems (or the "other side") to beat up on, wouldn't these screamfests masquerading as "news" just shrivel up and die? Fans tune in because the RW blowhards appeal to their basest instincts - it must make them feel empowered (even for a lousy 30-60 minutes). The Coulters and Malkins of the world have taken bashing liberals to a highly lucrative art form and I wonder how many of them truly believe the venom they spew forth. My guess is not many, and wonder how long they can keep it up. I'd find it exhausting, but then again, I'm not a pathological liar. I read a rather humorous article comparing Keith O. to O'Lielly and will post it if I can find it. O'Lielly was portrayed as the bully on the playground and Keith O. the kid who taunts him relentlessly. I think that's why so many of us enjoy this rivalry: bullies always get taken out.
