4. the JC Penneys in my old home town is about 10 yrs behind
lots of silk shirts with flames and manga and dragons on them

lots of acid-washed pants, for the kids to wear around their ankles

and plenty of cheap suits

come to think of it, they're about 20 years behind

penny's jumped the shark long ago!

9. Yeah, they tried to go upscale and corner the suburban matron
market. Now they seem to be thrashing around, not sure of what to do. Their clothing is like all mall clothing, going from 18 year old bar slut to 80+ and on a cruise with no stops in between.

Somebody needs to realize that we boomer women are a huge market and that our old clothing is wearing out fast. Any clothier who drops the spandex and glitter in favor of classic dressing is going to get very rich.

13. Yeah, what's with that? All I want are classic go-to-work clothes,
and they're scarcer than hell. Simple pants with pockets and a belt, knit tops or woven tops, and short-sleeved jackets to mix and match. The "ho" look has gone way too far. I'll be damned if I am going to wear a blouse to work that has nonmatching black or purple cheap lace sewn into every seam. this shit doesn't even look good on a ho.

16. Macy's "Charter Club" brand is very well-made; I wait for sales...

19. That's right
I had to buy something for a wedding a couple weeks ago and checked every store in one of the largest malls in the nation and couldn't find anything that wasn't BoHo or slut wear. :mad: I finally had to get something used from a consignment shop, which turned out to be perfect but it shouldn't have come to that. Retailers need to remember baby boomers or they are going to end up suffering financially eventually. :-(

in the little girls' section. Just coundn't give anyplace that sells something that nasty my money.

Pity, they were the only place that had reasonable prices and selection on 49ers and Kings stuff in 3X- I have to look around a lot more to find my Dad a present now. :(

18. Ewwww. I saw a kids' T-shirt that said "Want to Buy My Sister?"
That was over at Robinsons-May and I could not believe I was seeing that. Sure, some 8 to 10-year-old boy would think it was just snarky sibling rivalry stuff, but you KNOW that adults all along the merchandising trail knew exactly where that comes from.

The thong thing brings back unpleasant memories of censoring my pre-teen daughter's clothes (she's 30 now). At some point this culture decided it was okay to sexualize little girls -- and not just a little, either.

since they ran a great drugstore corporation into the ground here in Florida. It only took them about 8 yrs to kill the Eckerd Drug Corportation putting my wife and 2500 other employees back into the unemployment line.

I love Penneys. The one here in Maryland provides the best deal for halfway decent children's clothing and I shop there whenever I need to update my kids' wardrobe.

I don't know why those initials are on those cufflinks, but if I stopped shopping at every place that could even possibly have a link to Bush I would run out of places to go.
