Is the Bush Infidelity Story Truth or Bunk?

Here we go again, jumping on to the latest rumor.

Do you think the story about Laura moving out because President Bush had an extramarital affair is true? Or do you think it's just a piece of stray gossip that plays into the wish-fulfillment of those who want to see Bush suffer the same fate as Clinton? Or who are clutching at straws for anything that might break the hold of this administration?

For the record, I tend to think it is the latter. It seems too far fetched to me....But I could be wrong.

If this were true, she'd leave DC and return to Texas, not stay at a hotel. The story smells to me.

But the irony of this is that were it true then people might start to take impeachment seriously. Forget all the lies and deceit, what it really takes to get an occupant of the Whitehouse impeached is a sordid affair.

What would be even funnier would be the contortions they'd go through to claim that it's entirely different from what Clinton did. (I don't think they'd start calling for impeachment -- at least, no more than they already are.)

Then, we'd get the tired old cliche "It's not about sex. It's about the rule of law!" and they wouldn't see anything ironic about that at all.

This should hardly be a surprise to anyone.

If he's having an affair, it wouldn't at all surprise me because I think that it's only the most morally upright powerful men who don't take advantage of that power sexually as well as politically. And we already know he's not the most morally upright man. :P

But I doubt he's having an affair with Condi and I'm kind of skeptical on whether or not Laura moved out.

So, yes, he's probably having an affair with someone because that's what powerful men do. But I don't think it has national significance, and certainly not right now when there are so many far more important issues.

Whatever way this works out is still fun.

Monica was a helpless little girl. Condi is a "big girl" so Republicans can cloak it in behavior between "two grown adults". Condi is also likely a lesbian so this gives Republicans the opportunity to approach it as "save the sinner" (converting a homosexual to a heterosexual) behavior. Frankly, I usually don't give a crap about this stuff and I don't understand why I responded to this post. :shrug:
