Bush's brother signs doggie dining law
Gov. Jeb Bush on Friday signed the so-called "doggie dining" bill, which allows local governments to let restaurants permit dogs to eat with their owners outside.

The measure creates a three-year pilot program, and the state will determine whether to continue it. Allowing dogs to dine will be up to each county, and even if it's allowed, restaurant owners will still decide individually whether to participate.

Bush said the bill will allow dog lovers and their pets to "have a brewski together, have a hot dog together or whatever they want outdoors."

Once again the * brothers are apealling to their base; some how I just don't think it is working.

3. In Germany dogs dine-in, go to most stores and ride the trains
Edited on Sat Jun-03-06 07:49 PM by Solly Mack
It's no big deal and it didn't take any getting used to...

The pets are usually found under the tables lounging. In the mall the dogs go from store to store with their keepers without gnawing on anything or bothering others... and on the trains the dogs sit quietly while waiting for their stop.

9. The more places they're allowed to go, the more socialized they become.
I was in Ireland and saw a dog walk up to a street corner, look right, look left, look right again, and cross.

In our country, dogs are restrained all the time and we wonder why they don't know how to behave. Kind of like how kids are never unsupervised, so they don't know how to resolve their own disputes.

19. Yes but in Germany
dogs are strictly bred so that only mentally sound animals reproduce. Most of the dogs are very well behaved. There are so many puppy mills in America, there are tons of hyper, fear biting, dominant aggressive dogs.

6. Dogs make better friends than many people...
I'd rather dine with my dog than a Repugnican. For example.

16. Mr. Peabody had a criminal record for being a "dog at large" in Va. Bch.
even though he was a cat. Cats are legally dogs in Virginia Beach and, therefore, subject to leash laws.

You can go outside Mr. Peabody, but stay in your own yard!

If I were a kitty in Virginia Beach, I'd have my human put a sign on me that reads, I AM NOT A DOG, or DO DOGS MEOW?

18. This benfits businesses, mainly.
But people also. Do you have any idea how many outdoor cafes we have here? I didn't know it was against the law anyway, since it happens so much in Miami, but I guess this just makes it okay statewide.

If you wanna bitch about Jeb, though, I do have a list. :)

stores of all types; trains, buses, taxis. I see people with dogs on their scooters, bikes and so on. People bring their doggies with them everywhere... and the dogs are remarkably well behaved for the most part.

Yorkies are the most popular, bichon frize, lhas apsos. A lot of golden retrievers and once in a while a pit mix and very occasionally a rottie. The larger dogs are usually muzzled. All are on leash... well, except for the australian shephard across the street who likes to stand in the middle of town and bark at his friends now and then. In rush hour. We all just wait for him.

It's very civilized, as it should be.
