Oh God -- Joe Biden Agaiin! Maybe he should have a cot in the TV studios
People wonder why the Democratic Party gets accused of being wishy-wshy, tepid, boring and stale.

Maybe it's because there are about five Democratic politicians who are always on, and who exemplify those qualities.

Tody it's Joe Biden on Meet the Press. Yawn.

Gives new meaning to the phrase "loyal opposition."

1. I thought he did a good job today.
He was adamant about the mess in Iraq--and has been consistent in his message. He was hysterical in his response regarding the waste of time to argue about gay marriage and the flag-desecration issues.

8. He never real;ly pins anything down
Russert asked if voting for the Iraq Qar was his worst mistake.

Byden hemmed and hawed, said had to unbderstand in the context of the times, was not authorizing a war, blah, blah.

When pressed, he replied that his biggest mistake was misunderstnding this administration.

Duh...After almost two years, he didn't understand the nature of this administration by then?

13. he's right though
At that time, the Congress was attempting to talk the world into agreeing with the US on sanctions. The UN wanted to pull out. It was agreed that the US needed to have a united front. What Biden was saying is that Bush lied and used Congress--first by lying about the intelligence, but worse, lying to congress about what he would do with the "authorization." He trusted the administration to do the thing they said they were going to do with it--use it as a large stick. What Bush did not tell them, was that he and his co-horts had been planning his invasion for years and were just looking for an opening. 911 sure was convenient.

Biden trusted the administration. He was wrong.

Just as those who volunteered for military service trusted the administration to use put their lives at risk only as a last resort. Bush lied to the American people and the world including Congress and the military.

14. I and millions of others knew they were lying at the time
The whole thing was so phony from the get-go. Suddenly, after a decade, Sadaam had become a threat that required us to go to war in an unprecidented way?

And he became such a threat right before an election? And every time Sadaam complied with an edict, the US stepped up the rhetoric and the demands?

And why were so many people who did know the situation in Iraq -- and the consequences of invading it -- being ignored and marginalized?

The whole thing was obviously wrong from the start. And this after two years experience with BushCo's way of doing business?

Sorry, it doesn't wash that people like Biden were so much stupider than the millions of people around the world who argued against an invasion. Even if he did believe that BS, he should at least acknowledge now that it was a terrible mistake, at the very least.

Biden pushed for the war! I couldn't get over his remark, had to replay it, that Rumsfeld should be gone but we can't get rid of the shrub! Great. :sarcasm:

12. I think you misunderstood me.....
Biden's "solution" today may be Murtha-like BUT he voted to give el presidente power to go to war and thought there were WMDs.

5. So Russert takes a break with the Repugs...
For the last two weeks he has had ONLY Repukes on. Maybe that's why he broke the long thug spell with Byden the DINO... wouldn't want to "shock and awe" the American public with a real democrat! :sarcasm::puke:

7. Biden is one of the biggest grandstanders around....
In a committee hearing he'll grab the mike with the ardor of an American Idol finalist and yammer on and on sometimes making you think he's going to do the right thing until you hear the "However" which signals he's going to give the repukes "the benefit of the doubt" and predictably, vote with them. No thanks.

9. "I'll be surprised if Iraq is the number 1 issue that matters to voters"
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 09:52 AM by PuraVidaDreamin
"In the next presidential election" says Biden

As close to his quote as I could remember....
When asking why Hillary hasn't come forward
yet to say voting for this war was the worst
vote she had ever cast, (after mentioning
that Ted Kennedy said it was the best vote
he ever cast in his time in the Senate)

Well Joe, that sounds like another MIScalculation to me!
He won't get too far he keeps thinking like that!

11. Exactly
And I'm afraid that as long as the Dems allow these types to be thier high profile front men & women, they'll remain in the minority.

16. How about Bernie Sanders, Dennis Kucinich, Jan Shikovski....
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 12:00 PM by Armstead
Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Barbara Lee, Pete DeFazio......etc.

There are a lot of great, straight talking liberal and progressive Democrats. So why is it that the same old grey faces and voices are the only onesd who get airtime?

(Bernie isn;t a Democrat, but he ought to be what the Democratic Party represents.)
