Michigan Town Heats Up for 666 Party


HELL, Mich. (AP) -- This Tuesday, it'll be a hot time in Hell. Tuesday marks the once-in-a-millennium date of 6/6/06. It's a spot on the calendar watched carefully in the small Michigan town named Hell, about 60 miles west of Detroit.

The date comes close to the number 666, which signifies the devil in the Bible's Book of Revelation. In anticipation, radio stations as far away as San Diego and Seattle have been raffling off trips to Hell. Live entertainment and a costume contest are also planned.

One local businessman is especially fired up. He's selling souvenir mugs and T-shirts marked "666," which also come with a letter stating the owner spent June 6, 2006 in Hell.

Though the exact reasons are in dispute, the Michigan hamlet has been officially known as Hell since 1841.

way back then! I was given a 6-8-66 date of birth and THANKFULLY it turned out that way. I do have to say that it could have been later though. I had a Dr's appointment on that day and he asked me if I was ready and I said "you bet" and so he sent me to the hospital and had to break my water!

I've always been extremely athletic and he told me had he NOT performed this procedure I may well have gone ANOTHER two weeks because the sac was very thick! I rode horses during my pregnancy and did all sorts of things.... this was WAAAAAYYYY before the information you get today about exercising and staying in shape during pregnancy. I didn't know those things back then, just an active 20 year old who enjoyed sports. It helped a lot.

But I did just miss 6-6-66! There have been times when I've joked with my daughter telling her that she missed her birth date by two days! We've laughed about this many many times!
