3. Laurie David said that she has asked Gore several times if he will run -
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 04:39 PM by IndyOp
Each time he pretends he is having problems with his cell phone (paraphrasing) "What? I can't seem to hear what you are saying. Laurie? Are you still there?" She was on 'Ring of Fire' this weekend and shared the story.

;-)

I think it would be just great if he kept all of his energy focused on "Inconvenient Truth" - global warming.

The positive energy he will receive will take him to the next right challenge, whatever that is.

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

On Edit: Laurie David is a major player in creating "Inconvenient Truth"

4. He must run. Period.
Sorry, Al, but this is bigger than whether you want to run or not. The next Dem president, should we ever have one and should we have an election, for that matter, has to be tough and ready to be a one-termer, and to be subjected to the worst right wing onslaughts in history (Bill and Kerry were just warmups compared to this). It could be our last chance to salvage what is good about this country after the Bush regency, which every day is shown to be the worst in history and increasingly dangerous. If you don't care about becoming President, care about saving your country. It has come to that.

5. K&R - Really good interview... Gore reinforces his previous
statements that elections are 'a toxic process' and goes on to say that there are aspects of being a politician that he does not think he is very good at - an important admission. I would say that I would LIKE to have a President that is not a good politician because virtually all of the traits I associate with 'good politicians' are negative character traits.

He also says that he is not making a "Sherman statement" (that he absolutely, positively will not run) because decisions are influenced by the 'process of years' -- e.g. life changes you and you don't know exactly where/who you will be in a year or two.

So - I think any appeals to him to run right now will fall on (mostly) deaf ears. He should hear from us that we want him to run and will meet him halfway (or more) -- a really phenomenally successful Gore Presidency would depend on a phenomenally active, informed citizenry.

All this will be moot - I think - if we don't win the House (& Senate?) in 2008.

:kick:
