Does that take money away from them?

For example, this webpage with global warming information advises posters about the veracity of one of the google ads that pop up there and tells readers to click through to take their money.

So maybe the global warming deniers lose some money, but don't they also benifit from more clicks somehow?

2. YES
as a google advertiser, this may come back to bite me on the ass, but YES.

if you want to hurt a small business, click on their ads when you have no intention of buying their products.

many of the advertisers are on a "cost per click" program & can spend as much as a buck a hit. trust me, I have.

In fact, I'd say about 2% of the people who visit my sites make a purchase. I know those numbers suck, so if you know any good web designers/shopping carts...

anyway, I've been on the receiving end of recreation ad clicking, and if you want to hurt a small business - or stick it to the big guys - do it.

7. The global warming denial group in the OP is a large business
There's all the money of the energy industry behind them in one way or another, no doubt.

In their case would they get rated higher on google for clicks and then get their lies spread further as a result?

6. 'twas just a question. If I see an ad telling me global warming is a hoax
on a site that says it's not, I'll take the 2 seconds necessary to stick it to the assholes.

Makes me feel good! IF, as rucky says, it burns them...and it sounds like it does.
