and he has been attacked by two red-ass freepers in the last 5 minutes. Peter doesn't go for the jugular like Malloy does, but instead tries to reason with these idiots and I almost feel sorry for him in his efforts to hit them in the face with the truth and simple logic. 2. Two ways to tell the truth.

Werbe (Thom Hartmann also) speaks to the issues raised by the dittoheads with the expectation that the dittohead will simply continue to blather out slogans, but also expecting that the honestly uninformed listener will be able to see the difference between sanity and insanity.

Malloy simply and directly points out that the caller is a fool, a tool and a bigot, and by implication, that any uninformed listener should regard that kind of trash as worthless drivel. Both approaches can "work." I see them as complementary rather than contradictory, although Malloy's approach is far more fun to for this listener.
