Dear Mary Cheney,
Well did you see it? the president you support and who your father serves as Vice President came out supporting a constitutional amendment outlawing gay marriage. How do you and your significant other feel about this? This would, of course, mean that the two of you could never legally marry and couldn't enjoy the same benefits as straight married couples. Ironic isn't it that John Kerry and John Edwards, two men you consider slime, both oppose this measure and believe that gay people should enjoy the same rights and respect that straight couples do. Of course your father and George W. Bush are only interested in pleasing the extreme right wing of their party so that they will turn out and vote in November to preserve the almighty Republican majority in the House and Senate which use homosexuals as a political football every election cycle. Nice, huh?

In 2004 Kerry and Edwards used you as an example of a young successful gay woman who deserves the same rights as everybody else. You resented it when they mentioned you by name (even though your dad had done the same thing many times in his speeches). You said that you knew the heart of your dad and president Bush and know they didn't hate. Perhaps you should look again.

Good luck.

she just claims to be so she can have an excuse for not having a man, as no man would have her either! I don't think any self respecting woman would have her either.

8. Yes indeed, Mary - YOU are a SECOND RATE PERSON.
I don't use the term citizen to describe you, because that would indicate you have some RIGHTS as a Lesbian. How conflicted you must be, to have come from a man who hates your kind so very much. And yet publicly you support him. Yes, he is your Father. And you are his Daughter. Should he not support you, and your right to equality?

You, Mary Cheney, are not an equal in the eyes of your Father and George Bush. Perhaps they don't really mean it, perhaps you know what's in their hearts, but they are telling the world you are a SECOND RATE PERSON, not deserving of the same rights and freedoms other Americans have.

On top of that, your gay peers despise and pity you for not having the strength to stand up for what is right and denounce this GOP agenda.

How does that make you feel?

9. MARY'S EXACT QUOTE:
WASHINGTON (AFP) - Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Vice President Dick Cheney. said that she almost quit her father's re-election campaign in 2004 over the Republican Party's support for a constitutional amendment barring same-sex marraige.

"It is writing discrimination into the constitution and, as I say, it is fundamentally wrong," she said on Fox News Sunday. "I came very close to quitting my job on the re-election campaign over this very issue."

12. While I don't usually wish harm to anyone
In this case, it would be nice if she was severely ill in the hospital, with no insurance because she can't be on her partner's policy, and Dick bans her partner from visiting her in the hospital and from the funeral if it comes to that and the state takes her biological children away because they don't belong to her partner and...well, you get the idea.

15. "Vice President Cheney publicly opposes a constitutional amendment."
Edited on Mon Jun-05-06 01:39 PM by LaPera
NBC's Kelly O'Donnell notes that religious conservatives have criticized Bush on the issue of gay marriage: They say he benefited from their turnout in 2004 -- due in part, they say, from the gay-marriage ballot measures in important battleground states -- but they charge he’s remained largely quiet on the issue since then. O'Donnell also reminds us of this important subplot: that Vice President Cheney publicly opposes a constitutional amendment. It is the only time he has taken a public position that's contrary to the president's. Indeed, today Cheney will be in Lake Forest, IL raising money ($300,000) for the Republican National Committee. Last month, First Lady Laura Bush also said that gay marriage shouldn’t be used as a campaign tool.

But proving that Republicans can't completely avoid the issues that divide them or that are out of their control, Bush returns to the topic of immigration on Tuesday and Wednesday at events in New Mexico, Texas, and Nebraska. On Thursday, the president attends the National Hispanic Prayer Breakfast and later meets with governors to discuss the line-item veto.

17. CNNI just interviewed an Iraqi man, head of a gay organization
who says that life for gays and lesbians in Iraq is worse than under Saddam Hussein.

Bush wears that accomplishment as a badge of honor, no doubt.

24. She takes after her parents. Ignorant, greedy and selfish.
She'll never have to worry about money, or whether any laws or rules apply to her. She can do what she wants, when she wants, because she's Dick Cheney's daughter. She doesn't give a shit how anything might affect anyone else. Keeping her daddy happy means she gets her share of his fortune. And with all that wealth and power, it's not like any hospital would deny her partner the right to visit her, or any agency could deny her a baby if she wanted to adopt one. And please, she doesn't even have to consider the possibility of being discriminated against at work or when buying a home.

And what about everyone else who *will* suffer due to state-sanctioned bigotry and discrimination? And everyone who *will* be considered second-class citizens in the eyes of the Constitution? And everyone who *will* be denied the right to hold their significant other's hand as they lie in a hospital bed, or who *will* have the child they love removed from their home, or *who* will lose the benefits and assets built up with their same-sex partner?

Well, they can go fuck themselves, right Mary?

I imagine she's hiding in an undisclosed location right about now.
