If Gore had had Clarissa instead of Donna.

6. Repubs may not even win a cloture vote so this BS wouldn't even
make it to a final vote in the Senate.

11. No sense in filibustering something that isn't going to pass
The GOP types who will vote against it will trot out the STATE'S RIGHTS business, and use the NO BIG GOVERNMENT excuse, while urging the matter to be left to the states to decide.

I still think people should, if they are represented by a likely YES VOTE clown, call their Senators/Representatives and tell them they've lost a vote with their decision. But this is just a big bang, a distraction issue to rally the ever-shrinking base of haters.

16. We don't wanna waste the effort, though
We shoulda filibustered Alito, but didn't.

This thing is not going to fly. It hasn't a prayer. All it does is make those who care about personal liberty feel pained and hypervigilant, and it gives a small cadre of hate-filled bastards something to crow about for a brief moment.

It's a huge mistake. It's a Terry Schiavo moment, once again.

22. The GOP knows it won't pass, but they brought it to the floor
-just so everyone would see where they stand. Would it hurt for dems to call them on it in a way that would show that? I don't believe they will because they aren't as serious about showing everyone where they stand on this issue.

calling the Republicans pandering. ... Marriage laws should be left to the respective states. States should not be denied the right to interpret their own Constitution. My marriage is more threatened by heterosexuals.
