Californians: How does Busby look for tomorrows special election?
Do you think Francine Busby will win it? I heard somewhere that she made some kind of gaffe over the weekend? does anybody know what that is all about.

Thank you.

2. It was a simple misstatement...
She said "You don't need papers to vote".

Obviously, she didn't mean that the way it sounds, but she did say it and she's taking some heat for it.

3. Last poll I saw she was 2 pts. down

I'm sure that's within MOE, so it's a dead heat. The Republicans are sure spending money like it's a dead heat, and that's the problem: she's clearly being outspent in the last days of the race. The anti-Busby smear ads run constantly, sometimes twice during the same 2 minute break. OTOH, she's really bleeding the RNC... which is nice.

Probably comes down to turnout. I think that worries the Repubs. This isn't Bumfuck, Egypt, and people tend to not take time off from work unless they have a serious bug up their butt over something. I think the Republicans are worried that she's running neck and neck with Bildo, and I think that they think Busby voters are more motivated to actually show up and vote.

We'll know soon enough!

4. 2 Points Down + Democrat = Loss
Sorry to say, but it's likely true. If the Democrat even has a 2 point lead, it's not comfortable enough, but being down 2 points with the election tomorrow is not good at all.

Sounds like the bastards may hold onto that seat after all. Unlike those who say a close loss is a victory in itself, I still think a loss is a loss is a loss.

We're still on the outside looking in. One more seat we'll have to make up for in November if we hope to take over the house.

I don't think those in control will allow that to happen.

5. Maybe. It's very difficult for a Dem to win this district. Until now,
the DNC has considered it a seat not even worth fighting for. I think it really does come down to turnout. What will motivate Repubs to go to the polls? This isn't a district where playing the race card, or the homo card, or the religion card is going to have much effect. The one negative ad that Bildo himself payed for tried to bash Busby over immigration, but even that is problematic. After all, wealthy North County Repubs like their Nannies, Gardeners, and Cleaning Ladies. John McCain refused to show for Bildo because he sponsored the bill that Bildo was bashing Busby for supporting.

Bildo and the RNC are acting pretty desperate. I've never seen them (the RNC) spend money like this before in this district. Over the weekend it really just became nonstop. They wouldn't be doing that unless they thought Busby has a shot.

But, yeah, if she wins it will be a major league upset.

The 2 pts: MOE is MOE. It means the Bildo could just as easily be 1 pt. down, there is no way to tell. You can't infer anything from a differential within MOE. The important thing is the trend, and I haven't been paying close enough attention to the polling results to know what that is.

My sense is that Bildo is trending up, but that's just me being pessimistic.
