and yet we are still not much closer to fair elections than we were back then..
Election cycles are every 2 years, and we have a hullabaloo raised a few months before each one, the legislatures scramble to nibble at the edges of election law, brush their hands together, pat themselves on the back for correcting it, and then the wagon overturns again..
I cannot believe that something SO simple , is made into such a big mess...
We should have demanded and gotten PAPER and sharpie pens with HUMAN counters (it's not like we have a shortage of people willing to be paid to do that job) until there was a SECURE method of electronic voting available to all..
The myth of the "handicapped voter" driving the need for electronic machines is just that... a myth..
Every handicapped person I have ever met had other issues as their number one priority.. No one has EVER said that voting ease was a problem for them...
GETTING to a polling place was usually a bigger issue, and I would guess that most handicapped people probably prefer absentee ballots anyway..
Using handicapped people as their "reason" is just another devious plan... Anyone who dares to criticize their brilliant machinery is automatically a "hater of handicapped people"..
At the rate we are progressing, I don't expect to see fair elections in the foreseeable future..
