7. What people "think" and what the science shows
are two entirely different things- though in America's culture of lies- science no longer means very much.

9. I'm Supposed To Vote Yes, Right?
I mean, abstinence is the best way to avoid STD's correct? On that merit I find the poll faulty because that isn't really the point.

The point is that there are many other responsible ways to avoid STD's as well, and they shouldn't be foresaken at the expense of pushing religious ideals down people's throats.

12. Stupid poll...
Badly phrased.

My initial response would jerk the results the wrong way. OF COURSE abstinence works better than any other method. If you don't have sex, you don't get STDs. Period.

But how realistic is that? Honestly?

Not very.

Masturbation and responsible condom use are two things that WILL work. But we all know what happened when someone in the CLINTON administration used the dreaded "M" word.

Bah.

16. Abstinence is the only 100% way to prevent STDs...
I didn't know this was in dispute. It's not the only way and in no way should be taught above other ways, but its the only fool proof way of not getting pregnant or contracting an STD. Did I miss something?

18. Yes, but it's not realistic.
Preaching abstinence does nothing to quell human nature - in the context of HIV/AIDS, it's absurd to think people will just stop having sex.

But it sounded like it didn't work. It works, just not long term.

20. Yep, you missed something
Like.. what's the % that will permently abstine from sex? Eventualy they WILL have sex. So they are NOT absttining, they are DELAYING sex. Delaying it until WHEN? Marriage? Right! THey delay it until they think they have found the 'right one.' EIther way, it doesn't insure they will not get STDs or prego. Infact, in such situations, the don't want to take the romance our of it by actualy PLANNING.. Ya know, like carring protection. Actualy, carrying protection means your planning on SINNING and not over taken by 'loving passions.'

That type of teaching pretty much ensures such 'abstining 'persons will GET STD's and/or prego.

No such thing as perment abstinence. Eventualy the preson will have sex.. so they were NOT abstining, they were waiting.

22. No, it's not.
If you have sex with somebody who does not have an STD, your chances of catching an STD is exactly 0%.

Which is why kids who have sex have the same rate of STDs as those kids in the abstinence programs.

25. I Guess The Abstinence Question...
... was yesterday's poll.

Still... it's good to see 75% of the people who answered THIS question do OPPOSE the constitutional amendment.
