What I don't understand about this supposed "appeal to the base"
The people who are clamoring for a ban on gay marriage are the 29%.

Discuss.

2. Awww, I bet this bumps his numbers up 5%
It's more than 29% who support the ban.

Besides, this is really not about Bush. It's a ploy to get Republican voters out to the polls in November so they can vote and keep the Dems out of office. It's also a ploy to distract us from Iraq. Like the immigration "problem".

4. How is this energizing the base, though?
The people who are excited about this are the sheeple, who would never question Smirky McDeath, anyway.

5. Ah but the media is telling the rest that they will come back because
of this issue.

And the really bazaar part, they will probably believe the media propaganda

6. Immigration, Dubai, and Harriet Myers
Have left the 29 percenters perplexed and possibly less likely to go to the polls in November.

He needs to do something hateful (and of course unlikely to succeed) to ramp up the GreenMeanies, because they vote like rabbits fuck

7. He wants to get those grandmas and grandpas back in line
Those who have grandchildren that might turn gay overnight. Moral values and all that crap.

Those I know who have turned away from *, it's because of the budget deficits brought on by massive tax cuts for the super rich and the war in Iraq. They do not want their grandchildren to die unnecessarily and realize they will be paying for his deficits for at least a couple of generations, some who are not even born yet.

8. They are looking
for sound bites from the so called debate, to twist and turn the words..so they can show how liberals want to break up families and sleep with farm animals or some such crap.

This stuff makes me sick. This whole thing is just wrong..they want to win on hate..hate the brown people, hate the gay people hate the atheist hate hate hate...how can people who claim to worship the prince of peace fall for this shit...We are supposed to believe we want to bring freedom to Iraq when we want our own people to have so little freedom we can't even choose who to love who we want to commit our hearts to.

As a 5 yr old I believed in god and jesus and even then I simply couldn't understand how god would be against one person loving another person it just didn't fit with what I was being taught in sunday school.

Now I am an atheist and it still doesn't fit.

9. Even They Aren't Clammoring
No one is calling for this, no one at all. Not even the Christian right was raising any particular hell about it. The damned subject just popped up all on its own.

Like next week's flag burning nonsense. You seen any flags being burned lately?

them to the polls in 2004.

It doesn't seem to be working this time. Teehee.
