1. Thank you - I agree.
People look for any reason these days to freak out, and this just isn't worthy of much thought. We're a couple thousand years past the date so many fear, and apparently not much happened on that date in history, either.

Move along, folks. There's nothing to see here...

...the Bible was originally put to paper. Or the fact there is nothing that acid trip of a chapter that says the number has anything to do with a date in the first place (it's just the "number of the beast"). Etc.

the first year was 01/01/01 not 01/01/00 so the decade ends in 10 not 9.

I thought the year he was born was actually 00. I know there is research in regards to this, but I can't seem to find any of it.

A century is 100 years.
2000 was not the start of the 21st century. It was the last year in the 20th century.

A millenium is 1000 years.
2000 was not the start of the 3rd millenium. It was the last year in the 2nd millenium.

The year 2006 is the 6th year of the 21st century/3rd millenium.
The 6th year of the 21st century/3rd millenium started on 1/1/2006 12:00:00 am.

people are very confused on this issue. We celebrated the new millennium the wrong year. I think it was confused because the concept of zero did not come along until later. Also before Christ came after Christ and we lost track of time during the Dark Ages so we really don't know what year it is with respect to Christ's birth. Then there is the question of what year it is in China, they started counting at a different time. So when you get down to it, it is all a construct anyway and my electric bill is still due today.

Who gives a rat's ass? Except people who actually believe that god (or maybe Jesus, I can never get this straight) is going to literally reach down and lift them up to heaven at some rapturous point in the future.

There's really no hope of reaching such people, so let's not even try.

666 is a numerical equivalent of a man's name. It has nothing to do with dates or times of even the mark of the beast. It is a name. What name - I don't know and neither do any of these saps that think they do. In Houston there is a telephone exchange that used to be MOhawk 6 - that's 666 so using the logic of the stupid I guess the antiChrist was in the Mohawk exchange and had the telephone number of 666-6666. So stupid!!!!

It's a book about CURRENT EVENTS, specifically Rome and the persecution of early Christians.It's a codebook, too. Only a very, very few sects and denominations think it's anything else... and, thinking it's anything else is absurd.

And, yup, it's giving numerical amounts to letters in someone's name. (I cant remember what that's called). Probably Caligula.

arbitrary as well. I guess since 666 is Christian we can say that T=0 is the death of Christ but the units of time are still arbitrary.

The 666th day (as in the Genesis "day") after the death of Christ is the only one I can see as having some significance...of course, we don't know exactly what a Genesis "day" is.

My 2 cents...
