Family Marriage Act: What Would Jesus Do?
I know there is a ton of Christian Bashers on here, but I thought I would share with you "What would Jesus Do?" If Jesus Christ, the messiah, happened to be voting on this farce Family Marriage Act - how do you think Jesus would really vote?

Matthew 22:34-40

The Greatest Commandment

35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

++++++++++++++++++++++++

So in a nutshell the two most important commandments is to love god and to love your neighbor. Please tell me where in this Family Marriage Act are we living up to what Jesus says is the 2nd greatest commandment?

1. jesus didn't have to be a messiah for those words
to mean what they do. they are the core of his philosophy, and it is lost on many of his followers, yet adhered to by many atheists & agnostics.

2. Bingo!
You've hit the proverbial nail on the head. Most of the Christians getting bashed are not following the teachings of Christ.
This whole thing is another distraction from the debacle in Iraq, imho.....

4. The man was 33 years old and supposively single and a virgin
I mean come on, what did Jesus do from the ages of 12 (when he was in the temple impressing the pharisees) until 30 (sermon on the mount).

5. Verse 40.
That would be their answer. Can you love God, and say his commandments are evil? Can you love your fellow man, and say that what God forbids them is actually good for them, and that what he commands is evil?

Verse 37 and 39 sum up the law and prophets, and show how they're intended.

They just aren't consistent when it's inconvenient, so they get to judge which rules they'll follow. They judge the law, and God.

They also assume that somehow Jesus is the head of a current government, or intends for them to be; so they get to judge how others live and what others do, and condemn others for their actions while considering themselves righteous.

Two simple, and very, very common mistakes. Almost everybody calling him/herself Christian agrees on making these two mistakes. Almost all the disagreement lies in the details.
