Brin Says Google Compromised Principles...
'Google Inc. co-founder Sergey Brin acknowledged Tuesday the dominant Internet company has compromised its principles by accommodating Chinese censorship demands. He said Google is wrestling to make the deal work before deciding whether to reverse course.' http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/news/archive/2006/06/06/financial/f161937D58.DTL

1. Well, it had to be a LOT of money on the table
It's like that old joke, where someone asks someone else if they'd prostitute themselves for two dollars. The reply is "Who do you think I am? How DARE you?" The follow-on question is "Would you do it for a MILLION dollars?" The individual acknowledges that they would, for that amount. The joke finishes along the lines of "Well, we've established what you are, now we're down to haggling over the price."

Isn't their motto "Don't be evil" or something like that? Maybe they need to change it to "Don't be evil...for less than $XX million???"

4. The more I look at what they said... FUCK THEM - lying assholes!
"It's not where we chose to go right now, but I can sort of see how people came to different conclusions about doing the right thing."

Fucking lying jackasses. NOBODY has a different conclusion regarding the RIGHT thing to do. The only way to get a different conclusion going is to look at the FINANCIAL thing.

Crikeys - I guess it really IS impossible to be rich AND a good person at the same time. Sigh.
