Grass-roots impeachment. Possible?
I didn't realize 10 state Dem parties had adopted impeachment resolutions. How long can the national party ignore them?

Ten State Dem Parties endorse impeachment. What about yours?

Ten.

Were you aware of that?

One in every five state Democratic Party organizations have already crashed that gate, often in defiance of the party brass. And, as we know only too well, in defiance of the national leadership.

Gee, what could possibly account for such a widespread, but wholly organic movement?

And imagine where it'd be if there were national Democratic leaders willing to take the reins.

"But, wait!" I hear you protesting. "Coming out for impeachment will be used against us. It'll hurt Dems at the polls!"

"But..." you'll hear me answer, "that's just a guess. You have nothing to point to that says you're right. Whereas, I have something to point to that says you're wrong."

But first, let's take a moment to congratulate the ten brave state Democratic Party organizations that have stepped up and brought impeachment out of the shadows:

2. I believe the Constitution does allow for states to demand impeachment
when the Legislature refuses to act. Can anyone out there confirm this?

4. Nope
United States Constitution, Article I, section 2, para. 5: The House of Representatives ... shall have the sole power of impeachment.

3. Defiantly...
"in defiance of the national leadership.", yes, in defiance of our timid, cringing, inactive, ineffective, complacent national leadership. One wonders if they become permanent casualties of "learned helplessness" (as in will they stand up even after we've won back some power when/if we do).

5. There is no excuse not to impeach!
I cannot understand why someone hasn't introduced articles of impeachment in the House over illegal wiretapping and wiretapping alone. Bush admitted it. No investigation is needed. Instead Conyers and Harman want to pass a law to say Bush must stop breaking the law...the "LISTEN" act....make no sense!!
