Bill Bennett you just got destroyed.
Millions of people just watched him get his ass handed to him by Jon Stewart. That was fantastic!

1. You'd think they'd learn
Whenever these right wingers go up against a liberal that's informed, funny, strong willed, and charismatic they get slaughtered EVERY SINGLE TIME. They are nothing without their Faux News and Rush Limpballs to back them up.

11. Jon Stewart went into overdrive.
When he said this issue was about allowing gays to join in the institution of marriage. He killed them with their own argument. To deny marriage is to deny the very thing they are so serious about. And especially for children. The alternative is to let children grow up outside of a nurturing environment.

Republicans need to stop scheming and start feeling.

18. That's what my father says, too.
It is true. And it's one of the hardest things to do. My ego gets in the way too many times.

Love thy enemy kills better than a bomb. (Sorry. That sounds pretty fucked up. I shouldn't word it that way.)

I particularly liked how Stewart gave Bill nearly half the show to dangle like a side of beef in Rocky-Jon's locker. And Bill of course had to sit there and take it, or his publicist would kill him for losing the proceeds of book sales which could have been poured into Euros and Halliburton stock.

Jon didn't come out and say it, but by implication he made an interesting point. Stewart pointed out that every time there is a movement to expand the freedom of Americans, there's some conservative asshole out there who fights it tooth and nail.

And when you think about it, today's conservatives are actually the archetypical liberals--of about 1900. They grudgingly tolerate women and people of color in the workplace and support a bare minimum of regulation to ostensibly protect the health of its citizens and more importantly to prevent corporations from harming Americans to the point where the corporations might be sued. Slavery (in its original sense) is off the table, and descendents of slaves are accorded a degree of equality, while a blind eye is turned to efforts to disenfranchise and disperse them and otherwise give lie to the governing documents which demand truly equal treatment.

If Prescott Bush could emerge like a Nazi-supporting zombie from the grave, he'd be appalled at the progressive liberal agenda of his progeny. There's rampant toleration for all sorts of vile acts like miscegenation, intemperence, divorce, sale of birth control, abortions for the non-elite, and exposure of skin above the knee. Truly, we are skipping toward Gommorrah, and young Georgie is leading the charge with whips, chains, and a mouthful of man.

I look forward to the day when Dan Savage is held up as an icon of Amerian Conservatism.

15. Jon Stewart at his best
I do not consider him a good interviewer - especially as he has only five minutes. Too often he cut his guest, quickly trying to say what he thinks without letting the guest to say what s/he was invited for.

Not tonight. His message was very clear and he would not waver. Bill Bennett was trying to suggest that after gay marriage we will have a polygamy (surprised he did not mention bestiality). But Stewart kept on top - polygamy is someone's desire; homosexuality is someone human condition.

It's about whether you think gay people are part of the human condition, or just some random fetish. --Jon Stewart to Bill Bennett

Almost couldn't believe what I was hearing and seeing. Jon smacked down each of Bennett's weak-assed arguments with ease. I'm going to have to watch it again when I get home this evening.

22. I think Bill Bennett knew Jon's logic on the matter was better than his.
Bennett just deflated at the end because Jon refused to buy his BS, and Jon plainly bested him in the debate.

It was great.

going on Stewart? the conservatives keep coming on thinking they'll score points with the "logic" & "virtue" of their POS book or whatever, but they get their ass handed to them. every time.

and the audience laughs at them.

coulter isn't dumb enough to walk into that trap. that audience will skin her alive.
