VOTING PROBLEMS IN SAN DIEGO
By Karen Kucher
UNION-TRIBUNE BREAKING NEWS TEAM

12:36 p.m. June 6, 2006

SAN DIEGO – Election Day began with its share of routine glitches and missteps Tuesday, with some San Diego County polling places opening late and workers in some spots discovering they were missing versions of the ballot.

As the polls opened around 7 a.m., calls started coming in about start-up problems and issues, said County Registrar of Voters Mikel Haas. Most were resolved quickly.

“It is a typical California primary, you know, meaning it is complicated. And there are 1,646 polling places, 7,000 poll workers and there is always going to be something,” Haas said.

Haas said the county had assigned a troubleshooter to every six polling stations so that problems could be dealt with promptly. With all the political parties and languages, the county had to print 44 versions of the primary ballot.

2. In 34 years of voting in California. . .
I've never known any election to go flawlessly. From the initial report here, it sounds like some minor issues. If there's reasons to be excitable, I'm sure one of the many watchdogs will bring it to our attention.

3. Republican or Democratic districts?
Are there Democratic districts in San Diego?

If Bilbray wins, will he be indicted by November?

4. Now Now There There & Bow Wow
Ortiz, probably our next Secretary of State just got off a Sacramento TV station
where she stated emphatically that in the entire history of California elections
there has not been a single claim of fraud, especially not due to voting machinery

7. Yeah, I'm not convinced Ortiz will win the primary. So far it definitely
doesn't look that way.

6. I don't trust Ortiz farthur than I can throw her
Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 11:20 PM by nebula
She is either a bald faced liar or extremely stupid.

She doesn't seem like a very stupid person, so its probably the former.

Edit: In other words, we're fukced.

10. But Ortiz wasn't able to pull it off
Wow A HUGE RELIEF.

Bowen got little TV coverage. But she pulled it off...

Was she mentioned on Air ARadio?I can't figure out how it hapfaithfully follwed Pukehead Ortiz around until her loss, NO ONE ON TV IS SAYING anything
about the victory for Bowen.

As Michael Moore once pondered, "Is it all a dream?" Maybe the State of CA no longer has a Secretary of State position - otherwise you'd think Bowen's come-from-behind, sleeper victory of the summer would get mentioned somewhere in mainstream media.
