I posted in the comments section of the Clark County Columbian--a Washington State newspaper, in response to someone else's comments.
http://www.columbian.com/opinion/news/06062006news33887.cfm?emilStry=1Oh, please, Larry. Asking a gay person to marry someone of the opposite sex just for the right to get married is like asking you to marry a dog for the same reason. A dog may be your best friend, but you wouldn't want to put it in a bridal gown.
You fail to see the issue is that you people want your religious considerations to trump everything else. YOU want special rights based on your worship of some invisible friend in the sky, and want the rest of us to just go along with your prejudices based on this belief system you have.
The only thing that gay marriage threatens is your own preconceptions. And those are the very things you can't afford to surrender.
Your slippery slope argument is ridiculous. How allowing two men or two women to marry could lead to polygamous marriages (which already exist among the outcast Morman community anyway) or incestuous marriages (which is SUCH a problem in the first place) escapes me.
It's things like this that make me ashamed of what my country has become. And doubly ashamed of some of the people I'm forced to share it with.
