And I just saw another new post about weird numbers in another district. I'm going to go check it out.

One thing we've learned--and a lo-o-o-o-o--ong hard lesson it has been: DON'T TRUST WHAT THEY'VE TELLING YOU, whether Sec of State or corporate news monopolies.

7. The other post on weird nos. is about CA CD-2, and boy does it stink!
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=141x21929

This is NOT possible. Diebold seems to be removing the viable Dem competitor from the race, so the tired old Repuke will have no contest in the fall. Very, very, very suspicious!

6. CA-50
This was posted by a helpful resident of CA-50 and why the Busby and Bilbray tally is long in coming. It was posted on Stephanie Pelosi's blog from the Busby headquarters

http://www.challengernet.com/Home/TrailMix/tabid/721/EntryID/30/Default.aspx

"Precincts under a certain size (# of voters) in CA are required to vote absentee in California. They can sometimes be "consolidated" to make them larger than the cutoff and given a polling place. But ususally that isn't possible as they represent unique combinations of local governments (CA-50 has dozens of oddly overlapping special disitricts - school, water, sewer, others) that have elections of their own. Anyway that's the likely reason for the 57 precincts being reported as counted. Another twist is thousands of absentee ballots are handed in on election day at polling places and these need to have the signtures on the envelopes checked before they can be counted. Probably 20K+ and these won't be counted until later in the week after the sig's are validated. This could be undecided for a while if close."

8. I don't mean to tell Ca how to do their voting, but.....
every place I've lived the absentee ballots had to be mailed or delivered several days to a week before election day. The reason is so signatures can be verified, and the votes registered.

WHY would you let people drop off absentee ballots on election day???????

11. To be sure they get into the right hands. Simple. It a voters' rights
thing.

Please heed my post about SPEED. Speed is TOTALLY UNIMPORTANT. Only **ACCURACY** is important.

9. Yeah, that's an important reminder, about Absentee Ballots. I heard
the stat that some 50% of Calif voters had chosen to vote absentee. (Talk about not trusting the machines!) If true, what we're seeing now is just the DIEBOLD/ES&S version of some 50% of the vote. The comparisons will be fascinating.

I wish people wouldn't place such urgency on instant returns and instant results. ACCURACY is the only thing of importance. I don't care if takes weeks.

13. Actually it takes time to switch things.
Ithink the reason the vote was so off in 2004 was because we didn't get our results till the next day...

17. This race is over I think
With 252 precincts or 50% of the votes results were:

BRIAN BILBRAY - 37593

FRANCINE BUSBY - 33945

With 283 precincts or 56.6% or the votes results are:

BRIAN BILBRAY - 40123

FRANCINE BUSBY - 36005

So, in 6.6% of the total votes Bilbray gained 2530 votes, while Busby gained 2060 votes.

For what is worth, the gap is increasing. In order to win Busby will need to get 4000+ more votes than Bilbray from the remaining 70.000 or so votes. Something like 37.000 to 33.000... Very unlikely scenario...

That most of the votes reported are conservative/Republican districts.. Hopefully Busby will make some serious dent in the next few hours.

24. So what does this mean?
I know this is a heavily Republican district - does this mean we did poorly? And if so, what exactly do we need to learn from this, besides the obvious repeat fear-and-smear Republican campaigns that are NOT met by our side.

26. The fact that the Democrat is within 10% in a heavily GOP district
is good news. It was always going to be a tough ask to actually win it.

21. 66.2% counted
Gap is increasing once again

BRIAN BILBRAY - 44692 votes

FRANCINE BUSBY - 40371 votes

While it was 4% gap with 50% of the vote, it is now almost 5% gap with 66% of the vote. I don't see any signs of dem friendly precincts... Hope I am wrong though.
